**** Star Wars: Battlefront ****

Finally got it downloaded and against all of the negativity and my usual complete disinterest in Star Wars I actually kind of like it. I agree with some of the points made in this thread (mainly regarding spawn issues), but had a decent time on it and didn't find myself raging like I would on Battlefield 3 or 4. Probably won't be getting it on release, I'll wait for it to come down in price.

So many hackers :(

Hopefully will all this negative feedback they will listen and fix the things most are concerned about, and we might have a great game on release (wishful thinking) I am still enjoying it though.

There was a hacker on the other night, did 68/1 top of the leader board far beyond anyone else and said " Get Rekt " and never joined on the second round

Played it for about 3 hours in total and I'm done now. I think it's a 6/10 overall with the good points being graphics, audio and Star Wars. Gameplay is pretty meh, average shooter at best.

Said I'd wait for Hardline to be cheaper before buying and never even bothered in the end, think Star Wars might have the same fate.

2 out of the 4 matches I played last night had ~2 people hacking - combined with most of my team being new players and most of the other team always seeming to have max unlocks.

I really hate BF "netcode" - from most other games I tend to play very +forward style confident of being able to get the drop on most players and know when I've run into someone more skilled than myself, in BF it is more often 50/50 roll of the dice who wins out an engagement - even when you obviously fired first by half a second or more.

I went 64-2, 68-3, 56-0 when playing as empire, and I'm no hacker. Unless you tell me he was playing as rebels I will have to say you may be wrong. I'm not saying there aren't any though, I constantly see the "fairfight banned xxx" but I have yet to see anyone with extreme K/Ds like in the image earlier in this thread.

All you have to do is vehicle spam; AT-AT for the whole map and it's pretty easy to get that kind of score.

Edit: I have played it a lot too. At least 10 hours, maybe 15, and I haven't seen one hacker, though I only play on Hoth.

Yeah score alone is not an indication of cheating - playing on the drop zone map last night was plainly some hackers though - even though they didn't have that extreme KDRs its quite obvious when they instantly headshot 4-5 people on your team from the other side of the map.

Well, if someone went 68-1 on that drop zone map, I would think they were cheating too. I never considered that Neil could be talking about that map.

I went 36-3 as rebels on the Hoth map, just used the turrets to win the game. The anti-vehicle turret wrecks the AT-AT and hardly anyone goes for you. Wasn't MVP mind as the was someone spamming the AT-AT.

What a shame. Uninstalled, it's pants. The graphics, sound and atmosphere is awesome. But the gameplay, just wow. So generic and boring. Nothing special, very unfair advantages.

I'll pick it up if its ever £3-£5.

Well I've put 6 hours into the beta just to give it a chance, but this game is just complete and utter rubbish.

The only thing it has going for it is the sound effects and gfx. There is no depth to it at all and just feels like a no skill arcade shooter. I thought they may have taken on some of the feedback from the alpha and changed things, but it might even be possibly worse than the alpha was.

At least it's saved me money so I should be grateful for that I suppose.

I joined a game on the map that isn't hoth. I found it incredibly disorientating; the colours and lens flares and just the general look made it almost impossible for me to see or locate anything. What made it worse was the health regen and low powered starting weapon being completely useless.

What's more, survival mode just isn't fun for me. There's no originality to it, just "people are spawning. Pewpew them into the ground".

I can't see there being much in the way of improvement in the transition from Beta to release. I for one won't be buying this any time soon.

Health regen seemed a bit oddly implemented. The starting weapons aren't that bad - the rebel one has decent rate of fire and damage which combined with the imperials being bright white in complete contrast to the map (drop zone) gives you a fair chance. The imperial starter weapon has high damage but an unbalanced (low) rate of fire which does make getting kills with it harder unless the opponent stands still combined with the rebel skins merging with the very bland map colours and geometry. Imperials unlocks, etc. do tend to give them the edge on that map though in the long run.

I kind of like asymmetric warfare but it needs to be a lot better thought out than it is in this game to work.

Was quite disappointed that the game on that map pretty much degenerates into running around in a vaguely team based free for all.

EDIT: The maps really don't grab me though - the actual gameplay areas seem very bland and one dimensional.

You know there is character customisation so hopefully they won't stick out like a sore thumb. However we don't know what we will be able to customize and how it will work. Somehow I think that Lucas Films will not want to see an imperial soldier dressed in pink or have go faster stripes.
