****Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker - Official Thread****

Just been watching the critical drinker last jedi YouTube vids :p Hilarious and so spot on.

I'm not sure they could have made a worse star wars film if they tried. It's almost like one of those parody films that used to be popular.

Not quite sure what has gone wrong with film making in the last few years.

Whole original cast and millennium falcon will get wiped out.

Han Solos kid will eventually turn to the light. Wiping out palpatine in the process. More than likely getting mortally wounded in the process

Everyone has a party on ewok kingdom. End credits scene Stormtrooper and Jedi with no parents have a baby who has midichlorians off the charts.

Oh and Luke Skywalker the most badass Jedi of all time will do some silly ghost thing whispering tips and tricks in Jedi with no parents ear.

Received a text. Mate has bought a selection of seats at the midnight showing on the 19th. Wasn't planning on going as I've got a gig that night, but as he's already gone and bought them....

So Midnight showing, probably home at 3-3:30am...
Need to be in Bedford for a final gig by one of my favourite bands by 7pm...

May need a nap or two during the day.

The mounted charge on the outer surface of the spaceship makes my head hurt - how can someone not understand it is an idea that might sound great on paper but totally doesn't work or fit in this context on screen... how... I can only assume the studio owner's kid wrote it or something and everyone is too afraid to call it for what it is... garbage.

Other than that and Kylo turning up like a bad smell I thought it had potential.

As others have said the worst thing really is though that I don't care - I'll probably watch it for the visual effects but I've no interest any more in the characters or what happens to them.

the problem with JJ is that increasing tension and importance to him is make things bigger and more stupid - bigger superweapon - blowing up a planet was cool, lets blow up 5 somehow! stupidly big star destroyer - doesn't matter how they made it! one star destroyer was intimidating right, so lets have 100! the emperor was cool - sure he died but but lets bring him back in (i bet) a contrived and BS way!

For all of JJ's critisms he does make some visually stunning shots - the sunset tie-fighters over Jakku, the X-wings screaming across the water, the Ep9 trailer shot of Kylo appearing through the water etc. Shame about the rest but hopeful for some new desktop backgrounds :D

I don't get why people would go to a screening just for visual effects, why?

Imax. To be fair, even if ‘at times’ the plot is rubbish star wars is breathtaking on a big screen. It’s just a shame we haven’t had more of what we love from the earlier films. JJ should have been allowed to do all 3.

Will go to see this - pretty much guaranteed to enjoy it as I’ve seemingly already decided I will.

I’ll put on my Micky Mouse ears, buy my Mickey premium bar and watch it from the ****ing Tomorrowland People Mover. Nobody will stop my fun! :p
