Played it on EA Play Pro on what probably would have been my i7 6700K and 2070 Super, I certainly don't remember any hitching or stutters.A nice comparison between the two games (spoiler-free)
On PC? No chance. There's fixed location traversal stutters as they relate to the asset streaming systems in the game.
If you look at it from https://youtu.be/Y4jqjCIvkZs?t=10040 (2:47:20 -> 2:47:26 as you traverse through the zones on the roots-trunk (?)) that's an example of a zone transition where there's a repeatable stutter section. But there's lots of these zones in the game because it's due to how they choose to handle the asset swapping for each "zone" (by that I mean in a technical sense, not zone as in the planet etc.) You can run through the zones (Kashyyk has the most obvious ones) and record your frametime graph, you'll see it's there.
I warned you
PS5 is also having big issues maintaining its framerate targets according to the IGN review.so i7 8700k at 5ghz no good then
ps5 buy for me!
Interesting, so maybe it is worth getting on console instead. I'm not sure I trust them or believe they have the competence to fix it on PC so quickly (which is almost certainly a more difficult challenge). The console version had performance issues too but patch 1.02 fixed them, the patch is said to be coming to PC too so hopefully that's a day 1 patch lol. Beta testers will let us know
When has a day one patch truly fixed such severe issues on PC? I think it's exceedingly rare.Bit silly to review performance if a day one patch is possibly going to change it.
Digital Foundry always tend to wait for that at least.
Yep this seems to be the way atm - every game I've looked forward to needs at least a couple of months to be optimised AFTER releaseThis is why I never pre-order a game, and usually wait a good few months for them to be patched, and also for the price to drop a bit.
Because whereas PC used to be the primary platform consoles are now with PC versions being relegated by Senior Managers with little to no Gamedev knowledge who think the PC version is an easy thing because consoles are basically Custom OS PC's anyway, right?Sounds like one I'll be grabbing on PS5 instead.
Why are we getting so many un-optimised PC releases? My PS5 was meant to be just a PS exclusives machine but increasingly becomes where I play every single player (non-FPS) game.
