The combat force which is currently engaged in fighting is comprised of so-called 'light' troops, ie the US Marines and airborne units,

The 'heavy' mechanised divisions are still at sea, as they had to move from the Med to the Persian Gulf, due to Turkey not allowing them to enter through there..

How much a difference would this have made?
Not completely true. The 3rd Infanrty Division (3ID) does possess M1 Abrams and is the principle force heading toward Baghdad via the desert. The Marines and Airborne are not as heavily equipped but are still very capable forces.

The 4ID which was meant to attack from the north via Turkey is now enrout via the South. There equipment passed the Suez canal yersterday. There abscence is without doubt a significant reduction in US capabilities. The 4ID is the most technically advanced unit in the US army

Theres probably a Yank handing out sweets behind the camera

Yours is probably a pic of a child killed by its own govt for propaganda purposes....

Equally stupid response but im sure you get my point.

You cannot be so close minded as to think that war doesnt benefit some involved. Im sure the jews in the concentration camps were grinning for reasons other than the sweets the 'yanks' were waving

back to the Apache thing

Do apache helicoptors have retractable landing gear?

i ask because i just noticed that the one the Iraqi's are showing off seems to be sitting on it's belly, no sign of landing gear at all that i could see.

If they do have retractable landing gear, and it is on it's belly, it would be a good sign that the hydrolics failed for some reason (or something else failed that caused it to lose hydrolics)

this is what war does for you

PICS

We all know war has casualties.

NO ONE disputes this.

2 points though.

1) The Iraqi's are well known to stage these sort of pics. (although i know people do get injured, so i'm not saying they are faked)

2) Sounds very harsh this, but, its the price to pay for the liveration of a country from a man that is attibuted to 100,000's of deaths. Soem estimates put it indirectly at over a million.

I dont think so but I'm not sure. But if the Apache crashed hard the landing gear would collapse under the belly. It could also be partly buried in the soil.

BBC
the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Naji Sabri, who is out of Iraq at the moment at an Arab league meeting in Cairo was asked about the Geneva Convention. His answer was that Iraq was an ancient civilisation, it didn't need to be taught any lessons by the Americans or anybody else and it would go by its own precepts and by the precepts of Islam.
They cant even get the same message out. Any way Iraq is not an ancient civilisation. Its a modern country whose borders include sites of some of the earliest civilisations
