Steam IS coming to OS X

I guess it all depends on valves attitude to how games are adapted to work on a mac. While valve are setting the example and properly porting source to OS X, a lot of games you see for sale in the Apple store are ported using a wrapper called 'cider'.

It's not the best way to do it (it's akin to using crossover games or attempting to run a game in parallels, just a little more efficient) but if valve is happy to allow games into it's store using 'cider' we could se A LOT of the existing steam games 'ported' over to the mac.

They updated Half Life to run on the Source Engine, so it is possibly for them to port it over. Who knows if they will make the effort.

Just signed on to the beta, i think once this is all successfully launched then we may see a rise in games being developed for mac. Seems valve are in talks with developers and are very close with apple in partnership so im sure deals will be struck somewhere.

I would sign up to the beta but I haven't used steam for years and have forgotten my login. You can't retrieve/reset your details by their website but rather have to do it through the client... which I can't install for obvious reasons! D'oh

I've signed up, and I'm on a Mac Mini :o so we'll see.....!

Though I must say, when I had the MacBook Air (9400m) I had CrossOver Games running Steam with Day of Defeat: Source running fine!

Also Red Alert 3....mac version.

The 9400m isnt a bad performer and should open up more Mac users to games through steam.

Signed upto the better.

I remembered the pass for my 7digit steam id. But my 4 digit (Yes i was playing for a long time haha) I cannot remember the email i used as my login/reset pass or even the password :( gutted

AmTechFox.. let me know what the performance is like on the Mac Mini.

Been a Steam user since it launched (and before, in the days of the manual game patches) so would be up for signing up to the beta.
