Well, its 18 k for an unproven cure that NO ONE knows the LONG TERM effects of. What if all those people treated all develop spinal cancer exactly at the point of injection in 2 years time.
Theres a reason heavy research takes time and they don't come up with an idea and instantly make a treatment they hope will work available for anyone to have.
Not to mention there are LOTS of reports of people traveling to other countries to have stem cell's injected for various conditions and lots of people showing utterly no improvement and others having problems since having it done.
Basically what if you get 18k, travel to China have an unproven, unresearched, unknown treatment, it doesn't work, you've wasted 18k and in the future you won't try again or can't afford to. While if you wait 3 years, some brilliant breakthrough happens, you can have a vastly more thoroughly researched treatment that works, is free and has no side effects.
As for a petition, a petition will NOT get you a treatment that is simply not proven, and not available here. You can't take a petition to your gpu and he's so scared by it he just orders up a nice batch of stem cells and injects them in and you're cured.
Much of the problems with those campaigning for stem cell research is they fail to point out that it has a lot of POTENTIAL but won't necessarily ever be the cure for anything at all.
