Steve vs Linus, round 2

Linus media group stuff is just a computer themed slop show now.
It's what I'd listen to dong the washing up or at work, essentially back ground noise.
It's entertainment for a slightly more technical mindset.
There's nothing I'd trust or relying on when shopping for hardware.
The big guy that decided he was a girl.... He was decent but obviously that was bloody weird ....

I always GN for case reviews dunno why... Just trust them for that.
 
I think GN came off way worse from Steve's response tbh. Gamers Nexus seems overly sensitive, and detail obsessed to normal interactions. Certainly nothing to warrant all this. Also LLT should 100% have had the right of reply to any expose piece like this IMO.

Agreed.

Tbh I think the total absence of CES coverage from GN was extremely telling of what the industry thinks of their practices (i.e. they weren’t invited, or they were barred).

If GN was actual ‘mere journalism’ then nobody would have had an issue with the attitude and investigations etc.

Did you read what he was sending LLT though? Just too much unsolicited advice mixed in with his opinions. You can imagine getting those kind of long emails in between busy production days. Imagine other creators doing the same, you'd never get any work done.

Steve/GN should just do the way they believe in and state the opinions they have without trying to change others. We all have that one friend who will go OTT and has too much time on their hands.

This sort of micro-criticism of Linus or anyone else, when you start picking on incidental things, is ‘attacking the person’ beyond the scope of what the initial argument was about in the first place.

I haven’t zoomed in on the ‘latest disclosures’ and yes that has been outdated language for some time, but I don’t think it’s worth being overzealous on this sort of thing as non-PC language can always slip out in frustrated conversation. For example, from a quick search:

To be fair that it seemed more like "banter" between friends to me. Given one friend was been a bit on the anal side, hung up on insignificant detail.

Steve is very clearly a SUPER intelligent guy, who can speak multiple languages and knows an intense amount about this segment, but usually those type of people, while great usually have a short coming of being more socially awkward in other ways. That's not a knock on him, just usually how it is, and how it appears to be here with his interactions with Linus.

Linus/LLT could have handled somethings better, but that is inevitable with the scale they are operating at. It's just important that they strive to improve as they keep going.

Linus doesn't need to do anything at this stage, the overwhelming consensus on reddit is that Steve is in the wrong and came across as petty. He didn't have the evidence he claimed he had showing that Linus was unprofessional, the emails over plagiarism show that he was happy with Linus' response, and he didn't even address the main issues that Linus raised.

There was no text calling him autistic, Steve claims that Linus said he was less autistic than he used to be in an unrecorded phone call. Linus is from a generation that used the word retarded all the time in a non offensive way.
