Steve vs Linus, round 2

Youre comparing Top Gear to an audiobook of a Haynes manual though.

What is he scamming you on?

Hey guys look as this awesome ASUS monitor. It’s awesome. Isn’t it awesome! Oh here’s a word from our sponsor, Honey. Totally not a scam. Honestly. Oh look how cool this monitor is. Nearly as cool as our $200 LTT school bag. LOOK AT THIS AWESOME MONITOR! Wouldn’t it go beautifully with our LTT water bottle! It’s awesome. This thing is awesome! Oh btw ASUS sent us this monitor and are paying us to say all these nice things about it. But we know you don’t care because you’re all morons. It’s soooooo awesome! And here’s a segue to another sponsor…’

Going by your posts in this thread these guys could cure cancer and you'd still find something wrong with it.

Have you considered not watching their stuff if it irks you so much?

‘These guys’ can say whatever they want. We’re calling out the moomins repeating their scams as if they’re beneficial to us.

We’re down to basically no proper journalists in our sphere. Just recently Anandtech has been killed off, Gordon Mah Ung just died, and here we have the figurehead of yet another $billion corp calling out someone that dares to question their tactics.

But anyway it’s all going to be lost in the current furore of ‘OMG Biden killed TikTok! Please save us Orange man!’. That’s todays news. No-one has the attention span to remember what happened yesterday.

There's a gap in the market then, go cash in ;)

Let me guess, GB news was a breath of fresh air for you?

I watch LTT stuff but with ad / product placement skipping built into the video viewer.
I also watch GN stuff, but I find he does waffle on way too much for my preference at times and can be quite drony, but educational all the same. The 5000 GPU series breakdown with Nvidia at CES was very cool and dug into the design and tech which was an enjoyable watch.

Do they both have aims? Yep. Do those aims align? Not totally, but I think you need to be factual and accurate all the same on each side, but I also think being held accountable is good, but there does seem to be some muddying of the processes on both sides which isn't a great look for either.

Does it change the world? Nope, first world problem. :D

I think overall we are better for having multiple choices to go to, whether it's this forum which is obviously part of a commercial enterprise that has certain limitations or it's various youtube channels which also a commercial enterprise and with sponsored shows can also have limitations, then there's reddit etc as well.

I read/watch many different sources and I think I have a level of knowledge to be able to use the information and form my own opinions on what hardware/software to buy/use or just have a discussion or debate with other pc enthusiasts.

I'm not into being a fanboy for any outlet, hardware company or anyone else for that matter. NONE care about me, only how much they can get out of me.

That made me laugh, sums up the few videos I actually watched because someone told me it was it was vaguely interesting. They weren't.

And if you actually bought a LTT screwdriver then the screws aren't the only thing that got screwed :D.

He definitely does some boring stuff, like a several dozen minute video spent analysing the convexity shape of CPU cooler blocks only to show it makes 1c difference in temperature, like who cares right

The same people who still think you need to de-lid and watercool a modern cpu for any significant gain.

Or the same people that had to buy after-market CPU frames to stop their recent Intel chips from throttling.

I’ll catch up with the vid when I can but from the posts I have read, it seems like Steve is drama farming again. It was obvious during the previous scandal that his priorities were to take down LTT rather than to do honest reporting and it seems like the chip is still on his shoulder.

I suspected that the business relationship between them had been destroyed in previous scandal but this confirms it
