Street Fighter 6 coming with "immersive" single player mode (2023)

Deffo work your way through the tutorial, it’s really well made and goes through every aspect of the game mechanics. Looking forward to the release more now

Yeah they've really gone to town to ensure people, if willing, can really understand and learn the mechanics of the game. As I said above, definately the most feature rich fighting game to date. Kinda wish the Demo has the same selectable characters as the beta's though, gonna of lots of really good day one Lukes and Ryu's now :p

Well I have to say it, some may hate this but it's pretty garbage :/

I don't like it, the graphics are garbage, look at the screenshots below. Playing with an Xbox controller was fine, and changing video settings is a chore to get to as you are not immediately presented with the main menu screens or it isn't obvious either. The game has a max 120fps limit, it defaults to 60fps and battles are defaulted to 30fps (can be disabled), if you increase the fps to 120, then this is only outside of battles, disabling 30fps for battles locks you to 60fps in battles. No fullscreen, only windowed borderless.

Oh yeah, frametime spikes during fights.... See my RTSS graph.

But worst of all, WORST, no ultrawide support

I did laugh endlessly at my character creation though

Think your missing something major here….the gameplay. FPS is locked to 60 iirc so that the frame data doesn’t go out of sync with your inputs

Can't really gauge that properly in the demo though, and online or offline doesn't change what the visuals and quirks are like, at least from the demo...

World tour graphics aren't the best but that's the only valid comment in this post. Also world tour is more like a love letter to fans imo, we'll play through it once or twice, find the easter eggs etc and jump on training mode and ranked.
It's a fighting game, it's not going to support ultra wide otherwise you have artificial walls at points in the screen and you wouldn't know where the 'corner' is. It's 16:9 for a reason! Also it's got a 60fps lock in fights for a reason. Inputs and combos etc, frame data is generally designed around a 60fps. Not sure why the world tour mode defaulted to 30 fps as it runs no worse than than standard matches but it needs to be a multiple of 60.
As for a fighting game and regular matches sf6 easily amongst the best

Let me reply on his behalf. How does MK11 manage ultrawide then? :p

Basically as I said in my previous post. The corners will still be at the 16:9 ratio so it would be pretty horrible playing in ultrawide at any half decent skill level.

Don't worry though Street Fighter 6 had dynamic control for you two.... ;):p

Ultrawide is life! :p:cry:

The World Tour mode is nothing more than fluff to pad out the content in my opinion. When you think of Street Fighter (or any fighting game for that matter), the immediate thing that jumps to mind is 1v1 matches. The core online gameplay is the 1v1 matches. The whole competitive/esports side of Street Fighter are the 1v1 tournaments, so spending time on the world tour mode when you could just be getting practice on the actual side of the game that matters is a waste of time, personally.

It's like complaining about some jukebox feature in a Gran Turismo game or something.

That said, I did download the demo and played about an hour so far. It's really good and polished. I basically didn't play 5, so it's nice to jump back into SF, and I think the way they've basically reused/remixed a lot of the old mechanics from the previous games, there's enough option to play defensively, or pull off the flashier FADC-esque combos from IV.

My very first match, I did for some reason get some crazy dips down to like 20fps, but that was literally just for a second and it's been solid since.

Hmm ok so I understand now the difference between world/battle so that makes sense, and the reason for only 16:9 support, even if it's annoying. There's easily ways they could have expanded the background to fill 21:9 though whilst keeping the "play" area for fighters within the invisible 16:9 boundary - I think this is just an oversight really to cater to the masses who will be on 16:9. I can't accept any other excuse because it makes no logical sense.

I also noticed frametime spikes throughout any battles, which you can see in the screenshots where RTSS is shown. This is not something you expect to see in such a low demanding game graphically.

Anyway, Tekken looks to be more my thing so am looking forward to that, also it's UE5 so that should be interesting.

Exactly World Tour just pads out the content, sells a few more copies to casuals and pretents the game from gettings slated for lack of release content like SF5. I'll probably play through it once but see whats novelties and easters they have hidden in there. But ultimately most time will be spent in training mode, fighting ground and battlehub.

In fighting games the corner is a scary place to be and I want to know exactly where it is, not guessing if its a few inches either way becuase my screen is showing me extra space that I cant use and will only make things more confusing

Had a quick go and I like it. Ultrawide issue is not a biggie for me as long as the game is good I am fine.

What have they done to Ryu though, he is almost a grandpa

No doubt you will be able to pay handsomely to unlock young Ryu via dlc

@mrk Going to pre-order me thinks. Will get Tekken 8 also and MK12. I have lots of money left over by "canceling my 4090" order

Allo the original world warriors will look older in SF6 as its set the furthest along in the Street Fighter timeline an any other SF game to date. I think characters like Guile, Ryu and Chun will be in the 40s. Some trailers have already shown classic Chun, Ken, Guile and Ryu costumes though its remains unknown whether they are unlockable or locked behind a paywall. I like to think you'll be able to unlock stuff through World Tour, like the good old days. Play the game and unlock stuff. Maybe I'm dreaming :p
