Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

If this 'captures the essence' of the SF series and doesn't turn out to be totally ruined (i'm guessing it won't) then this'll be one of the first games i get for my Xbox :D

Can't say i'd bother paying double for the (pretty guff) special edition box though!

Although I used to love SF2 (classic) what is behind the excitement of this release? I do want it but haven't played and SF game for many years.

How have the recent releases been? What makes them so good?

I am excited becaused Street fighter 2 is my favourite game of all time. I have played other fighting games like Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter Dead or Alive etc but none have been as good as Street Fighter 2 IMO. Street fighter 4 I think uses Street Fighter 2 as a base and builds on that with new features like the Focus attack. Street Fighter 3 had the parry system but that wasn't very accessible for new players so focus attack has been put in instead.

All the original SF2 cast is back whil we all know and love (only Fei Long and Cammy are back from Super and Akuma from Super Turbo), plus some Alpha characters and new characters such as Abel and Gouken (Ken and Ryu's sensei).

A lot of people still love Street Fighter, HD Remix was very popular as was Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting on Xbox 360 arcade which was part of teh reason why Street Fighter 4 got the go ahead.

My take on SF4 is that it personalises the characters more. I.e. brought all our favourite characters "more to life" by being rendered in 3d whilst remaining faithful to the 2D engine.

In addition, the game has really intensified the effect of the various moves/specials and super specials visually and audibly.

In esscence it has brought the original street fighter into the 2000's and Im sure it will not be the last SF4 rendition (we will undoubtedly have a barrage of street fighter 4 turbos, and super turbos and super duper nutter ninja bashing hyper excelum turbo edition etc).

Oh and ofcourse, its in HD :)

i think samurai showdown or king of the fighters on NEO GEO pawns street fighter :)

One of the companies that had these for preorder have now listed the 360 one again for £99.99, can use code B4U for 2% discount to.

Going for the PS3 version.

No idea who I will be at this point - I am partially considering M Bision or perhaps Guile, but then sod knows, guess it's better to play it rather than plan.

It can't be released fast enough honestly.

Nice one Chaos!

Hope you don't wake up too late to see this message! :)

Saw the message but can't find the site (or missed it!!)

I ain't spending £100+ anyway tbh which, when you think logically about it, seems excessive, for 1 game.

If you're seeing the following then yes it's gone...

"Error, no information returned.

The item you are trying to find does not exist. It is possible you have clicked a link that is out of date and the item now exists under a different productID.

Debug=1792971"

But fair enough, £100 is a bit steep even if it is £30 lower than last time you missed it :)

Depends on how serious you are about your fighting games I guess.

I've got a few mates who are into SF in a big way, one of them actually has an arcade cabinet in his house (lucky bast). Because I've always played on pads when I play any of them on joystick I just get drilled. I bought one of these because I figured it would at least enable me to practice :)

So am I right in thinking, they have made a cracking beat 'em up, but it will be ruined by people using joysticks with all the best combos macro'd to them, thus needing no skill what-so-ever?
