he should get an extra 2 months for being a moron

He genuinely should get an increase for showing absolutely zero remorse, still believing he did nothing wrong. I think, like Chiellini seems to think, on appeal I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the stadium ban and probably allowed him to train with his team... if he admitted to what he did. In this situation I think they really should extend the ban, 3-4 more league games and a 3-6 month suspended sentence added.

The entire point of the large step up in severity of the ban is to teach him a lesson... to be fair Suarez has 4 months to reflect on what he's done now and might feel differently in 4 months time, today he still can't even admit to what he did.

The people around him aren't helping him in the slightest, an entire country telling you that you did nothing at all wrong, idiots are just making it worse.

I agree, there should be some kind of parole hearing before they let him play again.

Because defenders are getting away with murder, grabbing hold of shirts, holding down attackers so they cannot jump etc.?

Eh didn't he say this the day after the bite?

According to the Telegraph it was in his letter to Fifa of June 25th so yes, it was the day after the incident.

It's a nonsense excuse though especially when in the videos it looks like he lunges towards Chiellini's shoulder. It also doesn't explain why his mouth was open and ready to bite - unless you were attempting to bite someone I'd have thought that on falling you'd close your mouth rather than open it.

Yeah so the calls for extending it because of that seem rather dumb considering they had that before they made any decision.

Of course it isn't believable but he falls over with his mouth open all the time calling for a freekick :p I imagine it's hard to contain that overbite too

You're right, it's something that Fifa should have taken into account when deciding on the punishment. If they didn't then that is not the fault of Luis Suarez - he gave a daft excuse and showed no remorse for his actions but it's not as if one can argue that he's been inconsistent about it or changed his story.

He did give the worst excuse possible though, or whoever made it up for him as I doubt he wrote to Fifa, probably the guy who told him he had a buyout clause last year :D

He/they were clinging to the smallest chance that he'd get away with it and he could continue playing in the WC. Had he admitted to it and apologised then his WC was over.

Just seen Diego Lugano's comments. What an absolute retard.

Uruguay captain Diego Lugano says Suarez's four-month ban for biting is an act of "barbarity" that breaches the player's human rights.

"It's a breach of human rights that a player cannot go into a stadium where there are 80,000 people or into a hotel with his team-mates, that he cannot work for four months," the defender said.

"He has committed a crime, but this (ban) is barbarity. Not even a criminal would receive this penalty."

#fifa also confirmed Suarez isn't allowed to train with LFC during ban. So he might stay in shape, but is he going to be match sharp?

Wait for itttt...

.@FIFAcom also say if @LFC want to have their team photo at Anfield, Luis Suarez isn't allowed to be in it.

Not even allowed in the team photo because it will happen during the ban LOL

OH GOD my sides :D:D:D

For Diego Lugano to come out and say a 4 month ban is an act of barbarism is just disgusting and in poor taste. Some of these people need a full-on reality transplant.

Also, is that back-peddling? "He has committed a crime, but..." Casually redirecting the outrage toward the ban (which is tangible) and away from the defence (which is not). Classic.

Had he admitted to it and showed an ounce of remorse or even asked for help then his world cup might have been over but he might not then be sitting out as many games and be excluded from every thing to do with football. Strachan spoke the most sense I have seen, players think they are untouchable and any form of morality goes out the window from all sides when you have a player that might be worth any money. The attitudes of a lot of players is horrific, they are just so used to every thing being done for them and no one saying no.

It still all goes in his favour, Barca seemingly still want him. They might get 5m or so off which gives them a bigger slice of the budget to put into his wages and he can blame the English media for hounding him out the country. All he loses is a bit of match fitness and we have already seen what a 75% match fit suarez can do.

It didn't matter to him/them. Playing for Uruguay is the biggest thing in the world to Suarez. This was potentially his last chance to play in a WC for his country and certainly his last chance while he's in his peak and naturally Uruguay only cared about the immediate future.

They were willing to do whatever it took to give him any sort of chance of getting away with it.

Then tough **** if the ban is longer because they would have thought he was a lieing **** with a defense so laughable it makes him look even more of a liar in his other incidents. Even if Evra had made the whole thing up no one would ever believe a word he says outside of a Liverpool forum.
