And after this much effort to protest his innocence (hilariously). Uruguay have embarrassed themselves as a country as well, it's really quite bizarre.

Suarez has finally apologised

He tweeted a statement saying: “After several days of being home with my family, I have had the opportunity to regain my calm and reflect about the reality of what occurred during the Italy-Uruguay match on 24 June 2014.

“Independent from the fallout and the contradicting declarations that have surfaced during these past few days, all of which have been without the intention of interfering with the good performance of national team, the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me. For this:

* I deeply regret what occurred.

* I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family.

* I vow to the public that there will never again be another incident like this.

Like someone else said in another forum. He still hasn't admitted that he bite him. And he did not write that himself.

He's only apologised after the fact though, up until then he fell into him and his teeth brushed his shoulder.

He's made his team mates and various other Uruguayans look like idiots.

I would imagine LFC would've require an apology also. (Not so sure on Uruguay)

He hasn't apologised for intentionally biting him, apologised for a bite due to the collision.

Bit childish really. Like when I was a kid and mum forced me to apologise to my brother.
He isn't actually sorry

It's slightly, only slightly, better than his laughable excuse at the disciplinary. There will be never be an incident like this again? Teeth contacting another player's shoulders? Or him deliberately biting someone?

So his mouth fell on Chiellini. What a joke. There is a clear change of head position to line up a bite.

FIFA should be able to extend a ban if a player is still not being truthful after the verdict.

The fact Chiellini's asked for the ban to be reduced and Suarez hasn't really admitted guilt should be enough for people to realise he did nothing wrong. He's been banned now and that should be the end of it unless he seeks compensation.
