Subaru-powered Toyota FT-86 gets closer to production...

I wonder what the little stick on the steering wheel is though, you can see it on the in car views (ie at 8min) and its fixed to the wheel as opposed to the dash where the indicators sit. :S i guess it's not cruise control so maybe head unit controls, just seems an odd place.

Cruise Control, Or at least it is on the Supra/LS400/GS300.

Did anyone get the email about the preview brochure? I got two (emails)! I should apparently expect one (brochure) in the post in the near future. What really bugs me is that in both of the emails the link is different and neither works. :(

Done so, bit lacklustre tbh hopefully the real life version won't be as disappointing, I know its a game but the designers spent ages driving the car to try and make it as realistic as possible, and if the reality is its that slow round Monza ill be dissapointed :(

They've hardly done a great job in the past though. If I'd believed Evo's understeered so horrendously bad in real life from playing the game, they I would have never bought one.

I mean, it's not as if they are Impreza's are they?!

(Oh yeah, I went there! :D )

Full specs are available from Toyota for the GT86.

0-62 of 7.6s is a bit disappointing. I realise that's not all there is to it at all... but 7.6s. That's 320d repmobile territory. They also seem to have tweaked the automatic box for economy... 10mph off the top speed is a lot, surely?

Have i got the wrong end of the stick?

Surely if the top speed is lower the gearing is shorter (assuming it isn't just the top gear) for more acceleration.
Not sure. The acceleration is worse as well, up to 8.2s but the combined cycle is 39.8MPG on the auto vs 36.2 for the manual; CO2 is down from 181 to 164.

Not as disappointing as the Veloster Turbo at 8.4 :(
That is actually quite shocking; I remember the Hyundai thread where we were saying the Veloster was a nice looking car (I saw one in the flesh the other day; other than the stupid Civic-like block-your-rear-view spoiler it's really nice) but that it simply couldn't compete with the Scirocco on performance. Then someone mentioned the 200HP turbo version... 8.4s? God.

Kerb weight: 1240
Gross Vehicle Weight: 1670

Which of these should I be paying attention to, baring in mind that a 350Z is 1600ish KG, is that Kerb or Gross? What do they both mean?
