Subnautica

I took the plunge as well. Games don't really interest me much anymore but I can honestly say I have not had this much fun since Terraria came out.
I play at 1920 x 1080 and have 8gig ram, 970GTX and Xeon E31220 @ 3.1. I don't see much slow down or anything that annoys me graphics wise, everything on as high as it goes.

Same here pc games do not get much of my attention so i play old games when i used to even bother play them which is why i play them.

Am like should i even bother to upgrade my pc hardware, pointless since i play old games like cnc ra2 yuris revenge.

Subnautica on the other hand, well different like the graphics good for someone who likes to look around etc.

Made me 6x Ion Cells last night and plonked them into the Cyclops. I swear I could hear the engine humming louder as it soaked up all that extra capacity :D Reached the Lost River with 74% remaining, and that was with me using sonar a lot.

I swear they've toned down the aggressiveness or aggro range of the Dragon Lev that orbits the Lava Castle and the Primary Containment Facility nearby.

Last night I took off from my base near the Lava castle and practically orbited the whole castle hunting for the deep area that houses the entrance to the primary facility. I eventually found it having gone unchallenged (I could hear the dragon lev) and entered the area where the primary facility is. I pretty much slammed the Cyclops into its entrance (powerrrrr) before killing the engines. The dragon lev ignored it completely.

Mid 2017 when I tried getting to the facility it took flaming ages because my Cyclops kept getting blown up! Its a lot less scary down there now imo.

So I started building my new little base deep at 200 meters as my other one is basically at the starting pod, Have one of these spawning outside the bloody hatch... What is this :D

Bought this early last year and played about 15 hours on the pre-release version.

I've started a new game, put a few hours in, got a nice little base setup in the Safe Shallows, complete with moon pool. Got various tools and think I'm ready to go aboard the Aurora. Last time I went aboard was a pita finding the codes etc - I seem to recall there used to be two ways to get aboard?

I wish there was a way to map where you've been, and the controls are a little annoying - to exit from the inventory you press tab, to exit the fabricator you press rsc and to exit the preview on the habitat builder you press the left mouse button.

This is a fun, atmospheric game and runs well (so far lol) on my dinosaur of a pc (Phenom II x4 955 @3.64 8Gb Ram and a 4G RX480) and my almost 8 yo daughter loves watching me play (although she's not too keen on the crabsnakes)

Cracking game :)

Thats a warper :)

That solar panel must be next to worthless at 200m, the deeper they are the less efficient they are. Theres a chart here regarding the depths http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Solar_Panel

It should still be enough to provide oxygen and some power to fabricate. I doubt he'll be spending a huge amount of time in one that small. If it gets expanded, then a bio-reactor or nuclear reactor will definitely be necessary, or you can build a platform on the surface, fill it with solar panels, and then use the power transmitters to send power. They have a range of about 100m :)

I have 7 hours in so far, on hardcore right off the bat. Died 3 times due to lack of oxygen, with the last death being the dumbest - i got lost in a ship wreck... Great visuals, atmosphere and tension, decent gameplay, rewarding exploration.

Just rushed ahead with the very last thing in the game and finished it off - the last 2 achievements are bugged and currently don't trigger. Luckily after endgame you can go back to your last savegame.
I'm going to go back and explore some more as I thought I had tons of every resource, yet it seems I have no copper left after endgame so I'll hunt away for that. I've only found 1 'cache' so far too.

What a superb game in all aspects.

Where does everyone build their main base?

I have a small base built below my lifepod - But now I have a load more blueprints, I want to build a fully functional main base somewhere else.
