Subnautica

My base around there is about half submerged so I can drive into the moonpool (though I've tried it higher and it will lift a bit ). The locals don't seem to mind if you're base is in the shallows.
Yeah my main base, for now at least, is submerged in the shallows I think it is, or close to it at least. The place I was thinking of is on one of the Island, needed some resources that suppose to be around that area, Magnetite, but the sea creatures there is not that friendly. It worked building it on dry land although I only found 1 Magnetite, would wanted a couple more but at least I got the scanning chip for the HUD going. :o

On another little note. I thought I scout around the main ship Aurora in hope to find some interesting items. Arrived at the rear of the ship and thought I go behind it and around that way. I didn't even get past the rear engines before a HUGE sea creature decided it would give me a hug, and almost broke my Seamoth !! Once it finally let go of me the Seamoth had 33% health left !

To say the least I turned and ran as fast as possible back towards the rescue pod. I then returned but scouted along the side towards the 'Island' where you have to go at the start. I did find some nice stuff on the ground close to Aurora though, but did not venture around it again. Have to wait until I can upgrade the Seamoth a bit first. I am curious though what kind of sea creature that was, being so dangerous and close to the surface, would have thought they lived a bit deeper down in the sea. :p

*cackles helplessly* That'll teach you to consider yourself safe! :D

He just wants to be your friend... :D
Or see what the canned meal tastes like;)

I think I was on voice comms talking when I first met him (with the seaglide from memory), with the result I had several people asking what had happened.

One of the biggest in game frights I think I've ever had.

I think your second suggestion is more likely !

And OUCH !! Being on the seaglide and meeting that sea creature can not been a pleasant experience ! :(

In Steam, I’ve got the FPS counter on and it’s all over the place. 34-62 FPS depending what’s on screen. Anybody know which of the graphics settings I can alter to smooth things out? Or is it just bad coding? I’ve read things about the pop in and level of detail which seems to be a flaw in the design of the game.

It's the same for me on a 1070 at 1440p get lots of pop in and weird frame rate drops.

It doesn't look very graphically heavy compared with something like BF1 but it seems to need slot of grunt.

Just picked up the Steam version as I wanted something to play while recovering from a cold - no framerate problems really with everything turned up on a GTX1070 and 1440p mostly hovering around 70 fps the only exception is sometimes at random when breaking out the water near the life pod thing the framerate drops suddenly for <1 second then recovers. Rest of the time it is smooth.

Bouncing between 34-62 FPS sounds like it is clamping to V-Sync multipliers.

The main time I get framerate issues (with a Fury X) is while moving through my base.

I always get weird hitching when entering my base. But I think that's more of a game engine issue than hardware.
But I'm not going to investigate the issue of frame rate now as I'm done with the game until the new expansion comes along.

According to Afterburner I'm getting close the 4GB VRAM but not quite hitting it, so don't think it's a VRAM issue.

Depends some game engines manage it by paging data when you get near to the limit.

Are you down there in your suit or the sub? I took the Cyclops down and I was trembling all the way. Very tense indeed.

I made a small outpost in the lost river (near that blue tree)

I took the sub and prawn down... deployed the prawn... forgot i didnt upgrade the depth mod for over 900m XD

Playing this game on a 27-28" monitor feels a bit wrong somehow - it feels like an experience that is supposed to be on a bigger/more immersive scale (not necessarily VR).

EDIT: LOL the geometry around the Aurora is pretty buggy - went around one of the engines and suddenly shot up the side of the ship in the air 100s of feet.

This is definitely not a game for the faint of heart LOL - scavenging the tops of peaks 300-400m down that go down into the murky depth well below what I can dive with the Seamoth left at 200m as my main source of illumination and the computer making casual observations of the nature of the terrain with the subtext being predators in the area hah all the time conscious of oxygen level and that the Seamoth's powercell is below 20%.

EDIT: Also when you work out what the floating island is hah for some reason I find that more unnerving than the big predators, etc. in the game.

Recently got this game through the epic giveaway. I ran into the creature (thinks its leviathan reaper) when i was diving around the Aurora when I went scouting about the captains cabin task. Saw its tail just below the water surface and thought this close to the escape pod might be some harmless creature and that it was headed in the other direction. Then heard a roar and the next thing I know was getting grabbed by the creature with a face that looked like it was laughing. Then stayed away from that bit for a while until I got a seamoth and was going around the Aurora searching for a pod that was not marked which had sunk near the Aurora and was getting some good loot and the reaper made another appearance and completely smashed my seamoth. In the last dying moments I only managed to scan it a bit where it showed as reaper.

On a separate note, how does one get the stalker tooth ? Tried killing the stalker with a knife but as they swim around in a group never managed to kill one or even get multiple hits on the same one (not even sure if they can be killed).

They are random drops around those tall weeds - apparently whenever one picks up scrap metal there is a chance they drop. Quite small and hard to find until you know what you are looking for.
