Question for the muslim folks, are you allowed to eat crab and duck? I can't recall if it is a Jewish ban or an Islamic ban. That which does not swim in the sea nor walk on the land etc, meaning if it lives on both water and land, it isn't for eating.

Why crab no?
The list seems somewhat more expansive than the actual text.

Why not pork, was it defined why, or simply as it was written? Did the middle east have a particluar nasty gentile farmer, who the jews and muslims really didn't like?

I expect it's a set of rules just like in Christianity, rather than a list.

As to the OP, meh, private business making a decision due to profit. If they live in a high muslim area it makes economic sense. They have made the business decision that stocking bacon would lose them more sales than it would make them.

Although I only go in on the odd occassion, I know my local KFC is trialing a Halal scheme. I'd never thought to look if that meant the chicken burgers with bacon were off the menu.
