Yes, especially seeing as in Islamic countries there is free reign for other religions to practice their beliefs [/sarcasm]

A lot of my neighbours and friends are muslim, and around here in E London, wrt food and how we in the west fall over ourselves to please everyone, even they agree that it's gone too far :/

All this halaal meat annoys me, it tastes terrible and i don't see why we should accommodate other people religions.

Having a religion that does not eat a specific meat is one thing. But having a religion where the animal has to be killed in a certain way is ridiculous. Not only that but they always make such a big deal about it. Other religions just got on with it, but muslims always talk about the food they don't eat and if you do eat food they leave the room and take it way too far. I feel like slapping this guy at work with a piece of bacon sometimes. The worst is when they starve themselves for a month, then the whole world revolves around them and they make you feel guilty for eating in front of them and always miserable and tired etc. :(

Halal methods of killing animals is actually worse, having your throat cut and left to bleed to death is not quick or painless.

No different and I have no problem with shops opening and selling halal produce.

I do though have an issue with anyone selling halal food and not declaring it as such.

How would an observant Muslim feel about being server kosher meat covertly*?



*When I say covertly I mean served under cover of night by an elite black ops team of course.
 
I really feel people are missing the point with comments like "I suppose the Italian and Indian restaurants should go to" and all this. Or about people coming over and setting up shops to cater to their needs.

This is out of context. The point is that it's a franchise that elsewhere is catering to everyone's piggy needs but because Bradford has a lot more Muslims in it all of a sudden it is almost exclusively catering to the religion. The natives (yes natives can be muslim but it's few and far between) have been completely side stepped.

While I understand it's a business it does seem pretty extreme. Does this mean that eventually when more and more of them immigrate over and pop out even more babies and their babies pop out babies that all our franchises will be halal meat?

If you think it's ok for now then you can't simply pick and choose later down the line when it's affecting more franchises because you are then going against the same reasons for why it was ok before. That's just being a hypocrite.

Still though, it's a privately owned franchise, they can sell what they like. Subway is horrible, you'd be better off buying a pack of bacon and making your own. Cheaper too :p

I remember getting a full french stick, using a full chicken and several packs of bacon to make a monster sub! Heavenly! :D

In business, your market is king. It would be financial suicide to exclude the majority from your wares. The only time that works if if you sell extremely expensive luxury goods.
