'Suicide bomber' taxi explodes at Liverpool Women's Hospital

That's such an odd way of looking at this. This is the kind of person who didn't have the foresight to hide the device in a bag without playing around with it. I'm not sure stressing a healthcare system was high on their agenda.

The omnishambles of the actual act and planning doesn't mean the intention wasn't semi-intelligent.

There's no dodging the fact that hundreds of thousands of corpses are attributable to the fact we parked troops there for the last 20 years for our own motives. If you can honestly say that the majority of civilian deaths had nothing to do with our troops being there and the bad guys would have killed them anyway then give it a go but I have doubts.

Our own motives were 3,000 civilians killed in New York mate, did that escape you? Maybe go watch some footage of people throwing themselves out of those burning buildings if it does.

I heard a different report. Originally the fare wanted to the be taken to main remembrance area but traffic was really bad so when it became clear he wasn't going to get there in time he changed the destination to a church but on route saw the hospital and then asked the driver to go there instead.
This seems most reasonable to me, having been unknowingly caught up at what seemed like random road blocks on Sunday. Blowing up the women's hospital seemed odd versus just calling the whole thing off.

Taxi driver would/should have been very suspicious if there were these diversions .... I mean - you would jump out at the lights.

What do we all think about the driver being labelled a hero and the story line about him locking the doors before running off evangelised?

Seems like the video disagrees a bit? The car was still moving, potentially the bomb just went off prematurely and the chap ran away?

How many corpses and years does that justify. And of course we have less attacks because they have less reasons to attack us now? Hmm.

yes you're right - taxi driver decided to take initiative and head to what he thought would be a safer area with police/security and, himself, decamp

I was thinking more along the lines of - taxi driver took person to where he asked, person blew up, taxi driver ran way.

The door locking and noticing he was doing something "odd" all seems a bit 'made up' at this stage. His wife even said that he had no idea he was about to 'blow up'.

And if he was going to take the guy "out of danger", why the front reception of a hospital?

Fewer attacks. What about all of the attacks prior to and including 9/11? Additionally what justification is there for attacking the UK based on Syria? A civil war which occurred due to a dictator oppressing and murdering his own people.

Don't most taxi doors lock on the move anyway to avoid people jumping the fares?
Jean F explained what happens in black cabs. For private hire it'll depend on the car model and whether childlocks were enabled.

By the looks of the video, the state of the door lock seems irrelevant as it blew up whilst still moving.

It's a good story though.

You seem to think the intention was to cause less attacks, the intention was to capture or kill Bin Laden and stop Afghanistan being used for terrorist training camps.

But cutting off the funding didn't cross their mind once it'd seem

Yup, driver might be blagging it a bit. Doors (possibly) locked automatically (IF it is like a black cab) and he doesn’t seem to react until after the bomb has gone off.

(Unless there was some manual action by him to lock them or he deliberately kept the car moving in order to keep them locked. Surely he’d have locked them and stopped cab/jumped out)

Child locks prevent internal rear handles and windows from working.
