Stoke is Shaqiri's level imo. He completely flopped at Bayern, moved to Inter and flopped there and has finally looked half decent it an awful Stoke side. The fact his release clause is only 12 million says a lot tbh.

Bit of an odd one isn't it. I know he probably hasn't lived up to his potential but he always seems hard working and a good player. Whenever there are players like this I wonder what it is that clubs know that we don't. Erikson was another one that wasn't signed by a big club for ages but showed a tonne of potential. Its taken him a few years at Spurs to really become top class but the potential was always really apparent.
 
I feel Shaquiri, while never going to be a top player, would make a decent option for a top-6 club to have on the bench and playing occasionally. At Liverpool if, for example during the CL final, it were the option of bringing on Lallana or Shaquiri I'd pick Shaquiri.

Perhaps he doesn't want that and prefers to be playing regularly, and I suppose that should be commended these days.

At Newcastle or Everton level I think he'd get regular game time, but not much higher. Could be a relative bargain or loan for someone, as Stoke will want his wages off the books. Perhaps Leicester will be interested if Mahrez leaves as expected.
 
Sokrates to Arsenal is 100%. I'll be very surprised if it doesn't by the end of the week.

So far very unexciting signings by Arsenal but that's all we need.

Stability, experience and leadership at the back.

We are good enough going forward already.

I expect us to sign a DFM and a GK in addition to Sokrates.

Whether that DFM is Seri, Nzonzi or even Fellaini or someone else time will tell.

Oh and this Yacine Adli. Only 17 but supposedly going straight in to the first team.

Also rumours of a winger on the agenda.
 
I think Arsenal have done pretty clever signings. No superstar names, but they will be solid defensive players (at least they were in their previous clubs). I think it is the kind of signings they need right now.
