Summer Transfer Thread 2018

Reports coming out of Spain that Mina's off to Everton which would suggest that Utd are confident of getting one of Maguire or Alderweireld. I don't believe Utd would pay anything close to £80m on Maguire, it's surely just a ploy to force Levy's hand. I wouldn't bet against some sort of Alderweireld/Martial swap on deadline day.

It would be annoying to lose Martial, not worth it for a 29 year old defender. Mourinho will likely be gone before Christmas...

He has quite clearly stated that he handed a list over months ago. How is this his fault?
Without knowing who is on the list it's hard to say who is at fault. If he's asked for players that are either unattainable or would cost well in excess of what they're worth, then what would you expect the board to do?

Yep, I think we're ok for top 10 if he stays, without him will be a struggle though.

I do honestly think there's a lot of fake news spreading regarding Zaha. I'm still confident he'll stay.

If he does stay, this window has been great for us! Can't wait to see Mayer and Kouyate in action

I do question when a player (Mina) is potentially going to Man U OR Everton, if he is actually good enough to play for a top 6 team like Man U.
There's a couple of possibly explanations. Not specific to Mina but the most common reason why you have these sorts of links is usually the selling club or agent using the bigger side to drive up the price/wage demands. Given the money in the PL and specifcally the amounts being spent by the biggest sides, foreign sides love to link their players to top PL sides to improve their bargaining position with clubs that are genuinely interested. Equally, even if Utd aren't interested in Mina, it doesn't hurt them to let people believe that they are - they don't want to go into negotiations with Leicester for Maguire or Spurs for Alderweireld with the selling club knowing they have them over a barrell. And finally, if both sides genuinely are interested in him - a) he might be top 6 quality that Everton are striving to reach or b) Utd only see him as a fall back option to bolster their squad where as he's going to Everton to be first choice. He wouldn't be the only player at a non top 6 side that could do a job as a squad player for a top side.

A lot of Pogba exit talk at the moment :( will be absolutely gutted if he leaves.

Want him to still be here when Mourinho does us a favour and ****s off, and can be utilised properly

Don’t think you’ve got too much to worry about tbh. It’s too late in the day for Utd to lose such a vital player. No chance of replacing him. Window shuts on Thursday doesn’t it?

If he hands in a request though to try and force something through, he’s as good as gone tbh. Mentally he doesn’t seem that strong at the moment which affects his performances. So if he wanted out and was being blocked then he may as well not be there

It does sound more and more like he wants out. He’s not come out to deny the rumours or try and calm it down

Nah, Boateng would cost an absolute fortune. £100m+. If that's the kind of player Mourinho has on his list (at club who don't want to sell, with a very long contract on high wages, with no real resale value) it's hardly surprising no signings have been landed.

I can see Alderweireld, but I can also see Levy playing silly buggers as usual. Levy will also be even more reluctant to sell for what will be seen as a knockdown price over his contract, when he'll be trying to keep the feel good factor going until they get into the new stadium. I think he'll move in Jan.
