**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Yeah, i think he'd be brilliant, better than Etuhu, but then Fulham like to have a playmaker then a strong midfielder, so Etuhu would drop down the order.

I think Bale would be nice too, especially as we don't have a second left back.

Peter Crouch would be a great signing for us too.

Erm, how?

He hasn't played as much as he should have, IMO. If he were at say Fulham (haha), he'd probably play every game, at Spurs he's down the pecking order.

Not sure how he gets in teh Argentina side, started the season looking great and has been awful for the majority of the season. Hasn't even managed a goal yet.

Newcastle fans I know say the same.

He hasn't been awful, just hasn't reached his own high standards. Anyone who slags him off is an idiot, IMO. His crossing isn't great but his through balls can be, unfortunately the rest of the team doesn't like moving/running whatever so you get the situation like Sunday where Jonas has to make a block on the 18 yrd box and then somehow mount an attack down the left wing.

Fulham been linked with a few players;

Alvaro Negredo, Gareth Bale, Tom Huddlestone, Peter Crouch, Fabien (sp) Delph, Adam Lallana, Tamas Priskin.

Most could happen, but Delph would probably go to a bigger club.

Peter Crouch is due to lack of cash on Pompeys part.

I don't think there's any chance of Negredo signing for Fulham but he'd be a good signing if he did.

Yep. There were countless times yesterday where he bombed down the field only to find the rest of your team were still in their own half scratching their bobbys bits.

He's rarely played, ok he plays in the carling up and against mediocre sides like yesterday but who wants that?

He even admitted it

He has Hoddle-esque vision and a foot like a traction engine, to quote Alan Partridge. But his movement off the ball is terrible. That, and only that, is the reason he does not get more games. Only he is to blame for it.

What's the excuse for Bent playing then? :( :p

Apparently we were very close to signing him in January, but he wanted to finish the season with his club. I reckon it's fairly likely we'll attempt to sign him, he can find the net anyway!

Fulham could do with another keeper, left mid, left back, striker and a centre back or something.

We have no choice. :p

For example, he played yesterday because Pav was injured and Defoe was only just back from injury so would be stupid to play him when we have a, supposedly, fit and able striker.

He was lucky the ball came back off the GK to get a second chance.

Huddlestone would be an excellent signing for a midtable club, awesome talent, probably could have gone onto better things but been wasted at Spurs and not too young now.

He's played over 100 games for Spurs since arriving and he's only 22, how's he been wasted at Spurs? Talking out of your posterior dude tbh.

Tom Huddlestone is determined to finish the season in style.

The midfielder - back in action against West Ham on Saturday - is all too aware how things tailed off following last season's Carling Cup win.

It's exactly the opposite this time though as we're on a run of two defeats in 11 games having won five or our last seven to climb up to ninth in the Premier League.

"We are three points off seventh and that is our main aim now," said Tom, outstanding alongside Jermaine Jenas and then Didier Zokora in central midfield in the 1-0 win against the Hammers.

"Last season we fizzled out after the cup final and we don't want to do that to the fans.

"We want to try and win every game and now we have a target of seventh, that is our main focus."

Saturday represented Tom's first league start since Boxing Day with Wilson Palacios and JJ forming a great partnership.

"Wilson has been great since he came here, so has JJ and Didier Zokora when he has played," added Tom. "So if I get a chance next week or whenever I have to try and show the manager that I should be playing.

"I guess it is a case of proving to him that I should be playing as much as possible."

At the end of the day, we have Huddlestone, Zokora, Jenas and Palacios all fighting for the 2 available CM positions. I would go for Jenas and Palacios, unless, like yesterday, we have tons of time and space on the ball, cause that is when Huddlestone comes into his own.

I raise you

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone admits he has serious concerns about his future at White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old is rated highly by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp but he has not started a Barclays Premier League game since Boxing Day.

'It is difficult to say what the future might hold,' he told Setanta. 'Maybe the manager will bring a few new players in and get rid of a few and it might coincide with me not playing at the minute.

'I want to fight for my place, but the last game I played for Tottenham was in the reserves and I did not go there to play in the reserves so it is just a case of seeing what happens between now and the end of the season.

'Nothing has been said to me and I am not playing, so I am in a difficult situation. I have just got to focus on staying fit and taking my chance if it comes.

'The lads are on fire at the minute so it's not likely the chance will be in the near future.'

Harry Redknapp has reassured Tom Huddlestone that he is a 'big part' of Tottenham Hotspur's future.

Huddlestone has barely featured for Spurs since the January signing of Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios from Wigan Athletic.

The England Under 21 international has expressed his frustration at the situation and is unsure if he has a future at White Hart Lane.

However, Redknapp believes Huddlestone has a role to play and has urged the former Derby youngster to fight for his place.

"I see him being a big part of the future as I see he has great talent," said Redknapp.

"I understand his [frustration]. He and Michael Dawson want to play all the time. He is unlucky not to play every week as when he has played he has been fantastic.

"But if we are going to keep pushing on and to be a bigger, better club then you need that squad and competition for places."

Fantastic

Redknapp believes Huddlestone's passing ability can be likened to that of Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle, but he wants the 22-year-old to be more vocal on the pitch.

"He has the fantastic playing ability like Hoddle, to spray the ball all over the park," Redknapp added.

"If he is as good as Glenn he will be a great player as Glenn was fantastic.

"Sometimes he has to boss a game more. He is like a quarter-back, he can deliver a pass on a sixpence from 40 yards with his left foot or right foot. He can put people in, he has the talent to do that.

"But he has to keep getting the ball and sometimes he does not demand the ball enough and he does not take the game by the scruff of the neck.

"I said this morning to him he has to get at people. If they don't give it to him, he has to tell them 'Give me the ball. I am a better passer than you. You get it, give it to me and I will deliver the passes'."

Peter Crouch would be a great signing for us too.

For us too. He's perfectly suited to playing the lone striker role if/when Torres is out and i have no doubt that Benitez would take him back (didn't want to sell him in the first place). Maybe Crouch as seen that the grass isn't always greener; he's barely played any more games for Pompey. I doubt it though.

I've always thought that Huddlestone would be better off joining a club on the continent, possibly Spain. When given time on the ball, he's an excellent player. He's too slow to compete against the top Premiership sides though and that's never going to change.

Young teenage player struggling with form after a bad injury in the arguably the worlds toughest league, imagine that. Must be rubbish then..?

It was well before his recent injury that I formed my opinion.

He has to be made into a midfielder as he appears to have no defensive qualities from what I've seen. However, he's not quick or skillful enough to be a winger and doesn't have the right qualities to move into the central roles.

Kinda redundant, then.

I disagree, he gets the ball, runs, then falls over then / loses possession. Been saying it all season, bar the 1st Man U game
