This really is the defining season in Wenger's reign - he's destined to be left perhaps with just one genuinely top class player in Van Persie, whilst is now destined to be shopping in a completely different place - ie spending "bigger" on "established" EPL players at "lower level" clubs - Samba, Cahill.

Personally, I think this will be his last season at the Emirates.

Its because quite frankly hes rubbish and City are more than welcome to him....his cross completion from what i read is like 30% lol and hes on more than one occasion lost his head in the 12yrd box so good riddance to another rubbish player....as i said City are more than welcome to him....im hope he continues his rubbish defending for them:p.

The way the Daily Fail report about Arsenal, it looks like we wont have a team left next season:p....mass exodus pmsl:p.

Complete rubbish, firstly pretty much the highest cross completion in the league is 30% , and most players, including Clichy are just below 20%, theres zero difference between Clichy and Cole or Evra in crossing, Baines is out in a class completely on his own in crossing where his 31% cross completion ratio is pretty much 10% clear of Clichy, Cole and Evra.

Likewise he had a higher tackling success rate than Baines, Cole and Evra and attempted more tackles, etc, etc.

He's a good left back who only looks lacking upfront frankly because there is no one to cross too. Baines made 350 crosses, Evra/Clichy/Cole all around the 100 mark, Baines got 11 assists, the other guys pretty much one assist.

Arsenal simply haven't for a long time be playing the uber fast counter attacking football, nor had a Drogba, Cahill types playing to knock crosses too.

Would be interesting to see Clichy's states broken down to pre-post Xmas when pre xmas was all Chamakh and post xmas was all RVP.

Defensively, they all make mistakes, non of them make many mistakes, Clichy conceded posession FAR less than anyone else.

7mil is stupidly cheap in this day and age, and he's leaving purely because he's done with Arsenal, which is the over riding theme of everyone leaving.

Gibbs is worse defensively and no better offensively than Clichy, unless Vermaelen is both excellent at left back and fit next season we'd have to most likely spend a lot more than 7mil to replace him with equal quality.

Evra's crossing is one of the worst parts of his game (although his one footed dribbling comes close second) a full back as attacking as Evra should get a lot more assists.

3 years ago he'd already had 3 seasons with literally no sign of turning it around, he should have gone then, the last 3 seasons have been spent promising his best players things and begging for another couple years, theres only so long you can do that while failing miserably to bring any change to the team before they all walk out. Wenger's a shell of empty promises and completely lost at this point.

Honestly I still think ONE of the main reasons he was SO good when he joined was the EPL was still stuck in the fish and chips/heavy drinking age, Wenger was one of the first to make a team of complete athletes with a few excellent footballers. Problem is everyone else in the league, down to Wolves and Wigan, became a team of athletes and Wenger hasn't brought anything else to the team.

Arsenal use to be fitter, faster, more agile, and a super fast counter attacking team, now they are as fast, as fit, more fragile than most teams it the league and we don't have that edge, tactically, Wenger's completely incompetant, defensive training beyond "being faster than everyone else" which used to work is not there. A single player he turned from winger to a striker/winger in Henry and he tries it with every single striker he buys.

Bendtner, RVP has played wing, Wiltord played right wing a lot, Reyes barely played as a striker, Theo, etc, etc. He flat out refuses to buy players for a specific position and thinks he can get away with changing everyone around all the time.

If nothing at Arsenal changed but we lost Fabregas we'd have a VERY hard time getting 4th this year, if a bunch of other players go aswell, and we keep all the dross who will play more, we're smegged.

How many players who've made their breakthrough at Arsenal have had a genuinely successful career after leaving the club under Wenger?

Wenger seems to get the best out of players. I think Clichy will struggle at City.

SSN showing Clichy coming out of the City club shop with a copy of their season review DVD.... you think he'll have second thoughts about actually signing the contract when he sees the dross City play? :p

He will get home and look at the video and then ask his agent: "When did they get rid of their Red strip?" :p

Best of luck to him. Loads of promise and fizzled out.

One down...who is next...Fab...Nasri....Denilson....Bendtner....Arshavin....RVP.... :(

Are you looking at buying anyone apart from this Gervinho chap? I mean you at least now need another LB because Gibbs isn't good enough for Arsenal atm.

I think we will have a really long summer where we don't get anyone and then in the last moment he will go for players and find that we are out of time.

Unless the Clichy sale kick starts the who transfer process. But I doubt it.

Some places were running with the rumour that it was closer to £12m. I was frankly very surprised that Arsenal would even be considering him, but then again a good 90% of the rumours are bunkum.

90% is being kind lol - 99% is more accurate (with 0.9% of the remaining being repeated "fact" worded slightly differently....or filler on how the new signing will work out lo...with one or two invented lines on another transfer targetl):D

spurs interested in krkic apparently. i know nothing about him other than he was on liverpool's radar AFAIK and there's talk of him costing about £14m and he's 20/21
