And as you say he has come off a bad season but we are set to give inter 100% mark up on the value they bought him for? I wish some other people here had a grasp of economics lol. he s a good.player dont get.me wrong but we missed the boat here. like we did with once 12 million berbatov, modric, van Der vaart, sneider.

Meh for every Berbatov, VDV, Sneijder we missed out on signing for peanuts we did get Ronaldo, Hernandez, Vidic & Evra. Cant get them all for lowly fees some of them you just have to grin and bare paying inflated prices from what they were just 2 or 3 years earlier

Besides which it could be argued that haven't needed Sneijder before this past year before which we had Scholes and the notion that Hargreaves would actually play again not to mention Carrick, Fletcher and the hope Anderson would come good.

cant believe people overhype how good rooney is as a striker. if he was scottish and playing for arsenal, people would be begging for him to go into midfield.

he can pass and distribute the ball very well (not what a lot of striker are famous for being good at)

he is small (not a good thing when your a striker unless your playing wide or have a decent target man playing alongside you)

he likes to get in amongst it (what most midfielders generally do)

he is a perfect match 10/10 to play a lampard/gerrard type role at man utd.

people saying its madness to stick one of the best strikers in the world in midfield, well let me tell you something, he aint that good, nistelrooy for one when he was at united scored as many goals in 50 less games.

he couldnt do anything for england in the world cup, and ran about whinging at his own fans, yeah you deserve to be boo'ed off when your drawing with **** poor teams and had all the hype of david haye.

Early career
Piqué started his career in FC Barcelona's youth teams as a defensive midfielder

what's that the best team in the world has someone who played defensive mid as a centre back?

someone should really tell guardiola that pique started out as a defensive mid and can only play defensive mid.

mascherano as a wingback or centre back? for the best team in the world? someone should tell them he is also a defensive mid.

if your good at playing football, you should be good enough to play in a number of positions.

champions league final

valencia gets pushed to right back????? what is this madness?

yeah your right guys rooney should stay as a striker and you should get rid of berbatov (your top scorer), in order for the messiah to play along side hernandez in his rightful position up front.

Sonny, Rooney doesn't have the discipline to play in CMF, it's as simple as that. Well, that and the fact he is "that good" up front.

That's a very anglo-saxon view of how football should be played. There's plenty of short strikers around the world that have done very well without a tall anti-footballer alongside them.

Is Gervinho being bought to be used as a winger or striker?

he doesn't look that good tbh, apart from a dodgy hairstyle, one trick, being young and pace, what else does he have that arsenal require?

Sonny, it seems that some people cannot see the wood for the trees.

An isolated small striker is wrong. Spending 30-40 million on Sneijder is also wrong. And as they say, 2 wrongs do not make a 'right'.

People have to accept that there can be no good, financially responsible outcome to any of this. And that ultimately central midfielders who look great in italy dont necessarily translate into great premiership midfielders, im looking at Veron, Acquiliani, as examples but there are probably others as well.

Rooney is a great player. it would be great if he was the little man in 2 man combo, but with Fergie leaving Berba in the dressing room and pairing small and smaller (roon + hernandez) it just causes problems for us as neither can get and hold the ball up that well. Little and large is often the way to go. It doesnt have to be as workmanlike as Crouch+Hernandez but surely with the way that we play, having a target man has proven to be sucessful in the past and will do so again.

Besides which it could be argued that haven't needed Sneijder before this past year before which we had Scholes and the notion that Hargreaves would actually play again not to mention Carrick, Fletcher and the hope Anderson would come good.

That is entirely debatable in itself. The premise of what you say hangs on Hardcheese ever making a sustainable comeback - didnt happen or Carrick playing like a proper footballer, which he hasnt done in 3 years. Oh and Paul Scholes not being 35 years old or whatever. Fletcher is awful at anything but being a pest. Anderson is still up for odds but being injured for a long period meant we needed someone else.

When you factor all of this in, then to me it was obvious that we needed a good creative center midfielder for 2-3 years. Plus a good tackling one, who can pass, like say, mascherano. We are a team with 1 dimensional center mids, Scholes has never been 2 way player - never able to tackle. Fletcher never been able to pass. Carrick, i dont even want to re ignite this one. Deep down you must know it to be true but are for some reason repressing these thoughts.. and i have no idea why.

Played in a 4-3-3 last year on the right or left, so I'd expect the same

Next Chamakh?

Not sure what you mean. He started the season very well, but fell away after Christmas with the emergence or RvP.

Who?

4 titles in 5 years and 3 champions league finals in 4 years is a fact that our squad has been more than equip to challenge on all fronts

Oh and FYI, we could have had Sneijder in midfield and Crouch up front and we still wouldn't of beaten Barca before you go there
