That's not strictly true is it, this is the actual quote

That's not him confirming he'll be at the club that's him just giving a vague answer to please the fans. After losing Flamini on a free Arsenal would be insane not to sell Nasri when he's made it clear he wants to move thus making the chances of him signing a new contract slim unless he has a complete change of heart

Or the first bit

Wenger said:
“I expect Samir Nasri to stay. There is always speculation, but he is committed to the club right now.’

Flamini is a total different situation. He was about to sign for Birmingham fpr £3m for first team football, the move broke down, he stayed, and then got it at Arsenal, and didn't sign a new deal.

Rooney's best goal scoring season was when he was played up front on his own or have you forgotten that?

As for midfield targets everything is pointing towards a deal for Sneijder being wrapped up this week

Or the first bit

Still doesn't sound like confirmation to me, confirmation would be "Nasri is not for sale" or Nasri will be at Arsenal next season"

Wenger saying he expects, or I say yes when the deal isn't solely up to him wouldn't fill me with confidence.

Flamini isn't different at all, he was a player coming off the back of his best ever season at Arsenal that you failed to pay what he wanted and thus lost him on a free, exactly the same as Nasri. You would have thought Arsenal would have learnt either to remove this glass ceiling in terms of your maximum salary for a player or at least not let a player enter a season with just one year left on his contract.

Its not at all. and do you never feel embarrassed when the worlds richest club* has to throw smelling or Rio up front to hoist the ball yo.because we have no big/good strikers to launch it to? Berba is big but bad at heading. Rooney had a wonder season no doubt. will he replicate it? Wesley is 27. 35 million. I foresee a potential cash disaster here buying someone at this age for this price as it gives you no where to go if it doesn't work out. there is a reason he has played for 3 clubs in 4 years and its not because he has been getting better each year. and if you look at the timing of it we will.be picking him up at the worst time for the.most cash.that has ever been paid for him. they see fegie coming.and jack up the.price knowing that when he gets wood for a player he can't keep his hands out of his pockets.

His best ever season at the club was his last? A fee was was agreed with another club, and he decided to stay, so how is it the same? Whilst I was a fan of Flamini he was never one of the best players at the club.

It's 3 clubs in 5 years but the reason behind that is because 1 of those clubs was Real Madrid. He was brilliant at Ajax, he was actually very good at Real but didn't fit in with the Galatico profile and thus was sold when they brought in Kaka (who's gone on to be better the last 2 years out of those two) and he's been brilliant at Inter (less so last season admittedly but he wasn't the only player coming out of the world cup to have an under-par season; Rooney, Torres, Gerrard, Lampard, Csec etc etc)

As for sticking Smalling up front that's more just to give us numbers in the dying minutes not because lumping it up front is a tactic the club are going to start employing from the first whistle.... well not until Jose takes over anyway :o

what you hearing mate?

A lot of Dutch and Italian websites are reporting it, it's probably just a rehash of the speculation that tomorrow the Inter board with sanction the sale but as more and more sources are picking it up makes me think there is something in it

i would be a happy boy if it comes off. i read today in a gossip page that they want Nani in return... not sure how i feel about that, but we do need a CM of world class status more than 5 wingers!

Nah Nani wont be going anywhere, AFAIK we've never done any kind of cash plus player deal under SAF (maybe the odd loan or youth player but never a first team player)

TBH given his age I'd be more inclined if Inter want Nani they give us Sneijder plus cash :p

Technically he.moved to.inter as his third club after just 3 years so its actually 3 clubs in 3 years...we would be the 4th club for him to play for in 5 years lol.

And as you say he has come off a bad season but we are set to give inter 100% mark up on the value they bought him for? I wish some other people here had a grasp of economics lol. he s a good.player dont get.me wrong but we missed the boat here. like we did with once 12 million berbatov, modric, van Der vaart, sneider.

and we throw smelling up.front - not because he is prolific but because the club doesn't have the right players in the squad. Why not have a target man on the bench to.give that option. id take crouch over say Owen as Owen offers little different to Rodney or hernabdez. to matched to rossi..

Lets not get too pedantic on the spelling. lets stick to the spirit of the point rather than the letter of it.

Smellbeck - wellbeck
smelling- smelling
Rodney- Rodney
Hermandez - hernabdez

danger t9 predictive!
