I stuck £20 on you to go down at the start of the season, don't let me down :p

Can I have a stake if we do as "compensation"? :p

It's ok, once Newcastle string a couple of wins in a row together the whole of Newcastle will think they're gonna win the CL next season! :p

We already have. Unbeaten so far this season, including Arsenal and our main rivals!! :) Beat barca in the final 2-1 ;)

So far then we have signed:
  • Park
  • Benayoun
  • Santos
  • Mertesacker

I'm pretty pleased in all honesty, yes we could have done with a few more players and in an ideal world we'd have signed a top class defensive midfielder but our transfer business was left so late we've had to take what we can get. That said I think all of those players add huge amounts of experience to the squad and at least we are in a better position now than we were yesterday.

IS this a joke? We're better than yesterday, no doubt but saying you're pretty happy and we left it so late in the same sentence is rather odd.

Had Wenger not completely lost his mind and realised how crap we were BEFORE we got thrashed 8-2 we would have done hugely better in bringing players in.

Gervinho 12mil, Mert 8-10mil, Park 2mil, Santos 6mil, Benny... loan?. 30mil, when we went into the transfer window with 35-40mil to spend and have since made well over 60mil in transfer funds. Park won't start, Santos will, Mert is a big risk due to pace, but will probably be good enough and start every game, Gervinho...... still massive doubts. Benny? right wing, left wing, where the hell is he even going to play? We've had vastly better players available for the right wing for 3 years, yet Theo is our starter. Maybe we'll play him centrally, Ramsey, Song, Benny(with Wilshire out), and Wilshire, Song, Benny at other times.

Colour me unimpressed to say the least.

We currently have no decent backup CB and Verm is currently injured. Benny isn't even close to Wilshire/Cesc class and lacking someone that good in central midfield has already cost us massively.

Arteta in the middle would probably be far more useful than Benny, can only really hope that goes through aswell.

Even so, absolutely underwhelming. We got a quite ridiculous amount of money for Nasri, and I can't actually think of a single reason we couldn't buy someone in the same price range to replace him, same goes for Cesc.

Our list of buying not quite top players continues, which is exactly the underwhelming quality of signing in the past 5 years that got us directly into this mess.

They've had since Sunday even if thats when Wenger realised he was screwed, why not offer Everton 10mil on Sunday evening, why today.... its complete incompetance from Arsenal's money men and Wenger, nothing less.

I dnt undrstand fans telling me we need a replacement after my departure when weve 1 of the best 3 young players in the world @JackWilshere

:) I'm hearing on twitter that we've loaned, released and sold about 20 players! Should help with the wage bill!

We've been trying to offload him for weeks and his finger at the bench as well as look on his face said it all the other day.

One of our best players last season forced out and now made to look like a **** because we chose to release the fact he's handed in a transfer request. Thought we did our business behind closed doors now?

Dalglish is going to fall flat on his face if Suarez gets injured this season :(

If we've been actively trying to get rid of him, he wouldn't be handing in a transfer request. Like a lot of players, there was a price that we'd sell him for but equally he could have easily stayed.

Any issue boils down to him wanting more money. Whether it was promised by the last regime or not, who knows but you'd have thought if there was an agreement, it would have been sensible for his agent to have made sure it was put in writing.

The fact that the transfer request has been announced is to make him look bad but every club has and would do the same.

Meireles is a decent player but nothing more. He had some very good games but he had just as many games where he went completely missing. He's not trusted to play CM (ironically, him pulling out of a challenge against Exeter got him injured) and while he does a job off the front or on the right, he's not great there. Maxi does everything he does just as well imo. And as I've said all summer, from a business point of view it makes perfect sense to sell him now; last chance to get a significant fee for a player who will be nothing more than a bit part player.

Ideally we'd have brought in somebody to replace him but losing him is far from the end of the world.

edit: and if the finger was towards the bench, then he can **** off as far as I'm concerned.

I thought in that season for us (City) he was statistically one of the most effective players in the whole league? He was bloody blinding at times that's for sure. Not liking the idea of selling him to 'Pool one bit to be honest.

Why did he end up in the Championship then?
