It really is this same crap like after the Udinese game...... everyone was happy(except me), everyone thought it would lift us and give us a chance against Utd, everyone thought it was a sign of improvement.

I just thought we played crap, against a tiny team who weren't very good and maybe should have beaten us anyway.

We sign a couple players and Arsenal fans forget about the rest and only focus on that.

That list, is a huge amount of quality leaving, and mostly unknown or just not good enough quality coming into replace it.

This is also ignoring that last year, we weren't competitive, we were already short 4-5 players, and of say our worst 6 players in the first team...... we got rid of 1 of them in Denilson, of our 6 best players, at least 3 have gone.

What we needed was sell the 6-8 WORST players, and bring in the people we have, that would have been encouraging and a serious upgrade. What we've done is remove a lot of our best players, and bring in worse players, and no direct replacement for the single best player Arsenal have had at the club since Henry left.
 
Damn, my deal for Meireles fell through when he refused to accept wages of ten Haribo starmix packets a week, and all the store-brand Coke he could possibly drink.

Oh well, always next year.

This I could understand given the owners said they would only be buying players with a resale value and this'll be the last chance we get to sell him for a decent fee as you said but that becomes null and void when you look at the amount we spent on Downing.

How does that remotely imply "everyone" thought we'd improve?

Very happy with Mertasacker, just hope we got Arteta too.

Apparently according to yahoo, Arsenal.com has crashed!

Dont understand Liverpool selling Raul Meireles tho. Wasnt he one of their best players last season?

Cesc..... to Benny. Nasri to Gervinho, Clichy to a guy who is really a left winger(as are Gibbs and Traore, which is why they both suck in defence), someone on the bench... to Park, etc, etc.

Its actually pathetic.


I'm not sure Benny or Park will even play, RVP's position upfront is his, so Park is on the bench, Theo is undroppable(only by Wenger) so where is Benny going to play? 2 of those 4 signings will likely be backup.......

It's not simply a case of a business decision. It's a balance between business and football. Downing was being signed as an important first team player where as Meireles isn't, he's become a squad player. It's difficult to justify keeping a ~£15m player that's not important to the side and will be worth considerably less in 12 months time.

edit: and we've terminated Degen's contract. We couldn't even give him away :o

Can't wait to see the new team! Sure we've not signed the best players but at least they're better than what we had and they're experienced!
 
My facebook feed is full of people calling Mike Ashley.

I do not understand this at all. The money was there if Pardew put in a couple of bids, but he left it to late. Not Ashleys fault at all :confused:
