Has anyone asked Rooney if he wants to go to arsenal? If he was frustrated with utd s lack thereof of ambition then...!?!? How do arsenal fit into this conversation?

He wanted money, it was never about anything more than that. He'd sign for Arsenal if that was the place he could get the best deal and despite what managers and agents will say I can't see City or Chelsea wanting a player basically currently deemed surplus to requirements at Utd. If they let him go its because they think/know they can do better and he isn't the best and City/Chelsea both have the cash and sense to not buy someone that will be seen as nothing less than that. Arsenal, well, we bought Silvestre and Wenger is a moron these days. We would be stupid enough to buy a big name that is declining and over rated.

The only reason I think its possible is we can offer the highest wages out of the clubs that can't go for a "bigger" name, a Falcao/Cavani/whoever else and I can see Rooney rejecting a move abroad so might be after the most cash he can get in England.

Frankly the big spending european clubs don't want to spend huge on a player like Rooney... is he some kinda heart throb like Beckham, is he at the top of his game, or great infront of the press. PSG and Monaco are out there buying Zlatan's and Falcao's, Rooney doesn't rate amongst them and offers very little in terms of world star status. People might know who Rooney is, but he's no ones favourite player(outside of some Utd fans).

All the clubs with "big" money can do better, in fee's, in football quality, and in star power. Arsenal are one of the richest of the rest of the clubs and a manager who has been spending badly for 8 years, I don't think its impossible.

Ultimately I think he's angling for another payrise/contract extension and at least for now he'd see out his contract then take the biggest offer he can get after its done.

Can anyone imagine what would go through DM's brain if Arsenal did actually sign Rooney? :D

Rolleyes are out. **** is hitting the fan.

:D

EDIT: it's being said Bild did actually say United by mistake regarding Isco, cant blame them too much most of Europe had never heard of City before 2 years ago :p

Arsenal have ambition, we just aren't prepared to buy it :p

And Utd can keep Rooney, Alisher Usmanov was the one who has brought him up again but thats about it. But then went on to say "Arsene knows better than me what should be done. We should trust in him"

So sounds like he is picking out a a player he likes or thinks the fans would like and saying we should get him. Bit far from Wenger actually going out and spending £15m (:p) on him and then paying £300k in wages per week.

A bit of posturing by the fat Russian me thinks. He's always criticising the board about not spending big on players. Would he actually cost £15m? That seems a tad cheap.

Just re-read his old ones, they are the same. Minus Eboue is the greatest, Song is Rubbish, Walcott is over paid...and Wenger should leave...

Just joking DM ;)

You forgot about Vela being amazing and that Sagna has always been rubbish :p

I didn't pay too much attention to the Mignolet stories until recently but various reports claim a deal is very close to being done and he'll have his medical next week. I can only assume that a deal for Reina has already been agreed if that's the case.

Not sure what to think re Mignolet - I can't say I've noticed him enough to form an opinion on him either way. I suppose that could be seen as a good thing as you usually only notice keepers for their mistakes.

Really? Maybe my memory is starting to haze up but I always thought that it went something like this.

We had just won the champions league with the three musketeers, Rooney, Ronaldo, Teveth.

Then we sold off the number 1/2 best player in the world to Madrid and let Tevez go, bringing in Valencia and Berbatov to compensate. So we let two great players leave and brought in two players with nowhere near their status or lets be honest ability (berbatov..hmm ability..but no face fit). So went from having a fearsome front line to a wiganesque line up.

We also had an aging Giggs and Scholes and only really brought in Ashley Young to compensate.

Going from having a line up with Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo to Ashley Young, Rooney, Valencia I sided with Rooney, where was our ambition? yes so they paid rooney more to shut him up and promised more big signings, but they didn't materialise until we signed RVP in the summer just gone.

Nah Rooney is all about the money...and the old ladies :p

Add a few dinner ladies to his contract and he will sign for life ;)

The first thing anyone does who really loves the club they are playing for demands more "ambition" by taking an extra 5 mil a year out of the club meaning less money to buy players......... no really.

Ambition to be the highest paid player possible sure. Its called negotiating, players come up with lots of stupid ass completely made up reasons that they will leave unless they get a new contract. If Utd really really wanted to show ambition when Rooney demanded it, they'd have sold him and bought someone younger, with more hunger who would actually attempt to be fit for the start of the season.

The club also did show ambition, bought a better striker and now Rooney asked to leave....... so do we really believe Rooney was only about the ambition of the club, considering when they showed it, they won the title again.... and now he wants to leave?

"I'm homesick, but if I get paid more, maybe I won't be", "I don't really like England, I want to go to Spain, but maybe if you pay me more I might stay" etc, etc, etc. BS excuses to the ridiculously gullible fans to push negotiations the players way is neither unique, new, and they certainly aren't believable.
