Sunderland fans will be gutted, they loved him which presumably means he's pretty damn good. Seems a very good shot stopper, haven't seen enough of him to know more.

I was at White Hart Lane for the last game of the season, and Mignolet was their stand out player by far. He looked excellent. As a Liverpool fan I'm pretty happy with this signing.

Good luck to Pepe, presume he'll end up at Barca, he's been pretty loyal over the years.

Unless Reina stays, you need two decent keepers nowadays if you want to compete in all four competitions.

Liverpool have been very active, they might hold onto Suarez at this rate.

Valdes is staying at Barce now so I don't think he'll be off there. Monaco probably.

I'm not convinced that Valdes is staying. All that was announced was that he wasn't signing a new deal and open to possibly staying for another year. Despite some of the headlines, there was nothing concrete regarding him staying.

In the same way we're getting headlines about Reina staying when he keeps qualifying his statements with 'at the moment' or similar.

I don't believe for a minute that we'll be spending ~£10m on a keeper to compete with Reina (who's earning ~£100k per week). I'd be stunned if Reina stays if we do complete the Mignolet deal.

lol. If that guy said that to me in real life, it would scare the hell out of me. Looks like a ghost!:p

I don't want us to get Rooney, would cost too much and won't ber worth it. If on 150K then sure, but we all know that won't happen. So I say Higuain is best bet.

Why would paying Rooney 150k be okay? he's lazy, has missed a couple months in the past couple seasons just because he was too fat..... a professional footballer supposedly in what people call the "peak" years.... too fat and lazy to simply be fit throughout the season(outside of injury)? He's overweight, with precisely no sign of getting thinner and fitter, and with worsening professionalism in terms of his effort on and off the pitch. A professional would drop a stone over summer and start the season stronger than ever after a season in which he was sent..... to fat camp. Instead Rooney came back this year with less effort, looking overweight and unfit again. I mean seriously, can someone pay attention, HE WAS SENT TO FAT CAMP.....

I really can't see where the massive turn around is coming from that makes him a pretty good player again, let along great. There are significantly, massively better players around who would take less than 150k a week, Lewandowski for one, Higuain for another. He may have that moment where he decides to work his ass off and come back and actually attempt to be at the top of his game again... I just don't see it. He seems to have lost the hunger, isn't worth 150k a week now, and as he gets older the weight, injuries and lack of effort getting fit will get more and more difficult to cope with. Carrying around extra weight at 22 and 28 are different prospects. There is a reason why at seemingly the same weight, he seems slower and with far less energy a decade later on.... he hasn't changed in a decade in terms of fitness, and it will essentially get harder every single season.

I see no one has mentioned yet that Napoli have more or less said that City are out of the running for Cavani, they wont meet the £54mill release clause. Saying something along the likes that City cant afford it:eek:...dear god thought id never hear that being said by the City owners:p

Tbh im no that overly impressed with Cavani, sure hes scored what...33 goals for Napoli but seeing him the other night against Nigeria...i dont think hes worth that much.

Meh over to you Chelsea, wonder if RA will meet the release clause.

My favourite thing about this thread is that some Arsenal fans seem to believe Fellaini can fill the 'Vieira role'.

Their style is about as similar as their looks.

He is a very good keeper, that said, he had one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a keeper in one game last season (I can't remember against who, but I'm sure several here remember it.)

Generally not sure if it would be a good idea for Rooney to stay now.

He pulled this trick once, and got his way and admittedly managed to get the fans back on his side, but now im not sure he can do it again even if he has an amazing pre-season and gets some good fitness.
