Probably the first time in my entire life im going to be watching the Utd and Chelsea game on Monday...2 teams i cant stand but this game is going to be interesting nonetheless.

You've never watched a Man U Chelsea game? you madd bro!?!

Do you really think Mourinho particularly wants either Mata or Luiz? Neither strike me as typical Mourinho players and there's been whispers since before he officially took over that he was open to selling both.

It looks like the only thing stopping you selling them is the possible negative reaction from the supporters.

Yeah, I think he wants them both, Mata especially.
There's been whispers about the best players from all clubs, there always is, very rarely are any of them true and if you read what JM has said about Mata there's no way he was open to selling him before he'd even met him, which is one whisper which was around at that time. We won't sell Mata, he's too good and played very well in JM's system v Villa the other night so he can be a typical JM player if that's what's required of him although I don't think he's ever going to be asked to a defensive stalwart too if that's what you mean.
Luiz is different, again there's no reason why JM would want to get rid of him as he has all the talent in the world which just needs channeling.
There has been an offer from Barca that's for sure and if the player really wants to go there you can't blame, but we don't want to sell him as has been said repeatedly.

Nope, I dont have much interest in either team tbh but seeing as Moaninho is back and Fergie has left, ill watch it monday night to see how well both Chelsea and Utd do. Especially Moyes, its his first real test since becoming Utd manager.

Are you not interested just for in footballing terms though?

leandro now being rumoured to be on spurs radar for what feels like the 18th time but lamela seems to be gathering pace, just hope he's not gathering pace to another london club.

Pretty much, like i said i really dont have any interest in either team unless they are playing Arsenal. I mean if they are playing and ive got nothing better to do then ill probably flick the channel over and watch to pass time but its not something i actively go out to do ie place my life on hold to watch their games same goes for Arsenal as well. If im free to watch an Arsenal game then ill watch it but if im not, ill just catch the highlights on MOTD or on sky sports if they are showing etc.

Hate to burst your bubble cm but Wenger is looking at putting a £1 offer in for him:D:D

levy and baldini have got this one i have faith!

bale will never play for spurs again :( his last goal in the league and pre-season friendly were top draw. it hurts but i wish him well, can't blame him for wanting to move though i do genuinely feel 1 more season at spurs would've done him the world of good. figure of £85m seems most likely, not sure if there's a player on top of that too.

the pl will miss bale. he is expected to be presented by rm early next week. thanks for the memories. carry on spurs.

Fair enough. :)

I will add which i didnt to the end of my post that with Arsenal games its a little bit different, there have been times ie last yr that i did put everything on hold to watch their games. Much to the annoyance of my missus, she dreads football season because i tend to stay in and watch the games rather than go out with her to do stuff:p

sounds like levy may be looking for compensation from chelsea.

shame this didn't work

I get what you're saying, but I just disagree a bit, I think that Fabio can cover either full back but (in my opinion) would be better being there to help his brother out at right back, given that Evra and Buttner are both capable full backs (if a little too attacking).

Who would you like to bring in? I mean, good quality full backs at the level Manchester United will be looking at will be expensive.

Fabio wasnt good enough for QPR so Im not really sure why anyone would consider him enough ( even as a stand in) for Utd.

Smalling, Jones ( and Valencia) can do a job there but none of them will ever challenge Rafael which in itself is never a good thing even when he is fit ( God forbid a long term injury), just like we havent got a suitable stand in for Evra

The big issue is def midfield though without doubt - Anderson is just not good enough, and while Clevereley is not as good as I wss hoping he would be by this point, he is at least at a stand-in / sub level

I dont buy it that Moyes wouldnt have known enough about Thiago ( after all he had several weeks or more to read Utd's scouting reports apart from his own personal experience as a football manager - even if Everton could never afford him).

It also cant be discounted that even without an out and out defensive mid being signed - the better quality in the CM positions in general will reduce the amount of possession given away and therefore by extension the amount of goals too ( by relieving pressure on the defence)

Woodward does deserve to be shot for the completely stupid bids put in though. There is low and then there is ludecriously idiotically low.

With one or two CM additions at the very least the first XI would be a fantastic team once again that it really hasnt been for a number of years.

Ha..yeah, i think all women are the same. They don't understand our affinity to football. :p

The only reason Chelsea have gone in for Willian is just to stop Spurs getting him and strengthening further.

Mourinho is genuinely scared of AVB and Spurs at the moment.

Don't really want the mercenary at Spurs anyway tbh, Lamela is the better player and the better person, so hopefully we will just focus on getting him now.

Mourinho is looking the wrong way down the league then. Chelsea will be title challengers and Spurs could have been if they'd kept Bale and signed Willian & Lamela, but without two of those, they'll be challenging (and probably beating) Arsenal to fourth.

It would take one heck of a season (a Newcastle 2011-2012 season) for Spurs to be up around Chelsea the way things are shaping up.

They've done well of recent years and I've enjoyed watching it, but it's a heck of a step to go from around 4th place to being genuine title challengers. I'd love to see it though!
