Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

They should walk it with the players they have now....

Many of those brought in are in their 30's so I would imagine injuries will occur. They couldn't even win their own league last year...

People said the same about City in their 100 points season, the CL isn't a competition you can walk through even with the best side on paper.

It is no different to when Peter Schmeichel went to City and he still a United legend. Just someone in the twilight of his career. I hope City go for him because then it gives us a clear shot for Haaland next season. I wouldn't begrudge him going to city because he will be going for the pay day. Ronaldo went to United because of the club it was a completely different scenario.

Also people seem to forget he left us when we were arguably better than Real Madrid and the best team in England. He didn't start winning anything till his 4th season with them. Fergusson was the reason he stayed not Manchester United as much as it pains me to say it.

I dont think it makes a difference RE Haaland. Ronaldo will be in his last year next summer (if he signs for two years like rumoured) and it would make perfect sense to sign Haaland and give him a year to settle in.

If anything it makes it more likely imo.

Which is what makes RMs run in it so impressive. All you need is a bit of bad luck, a team on form when you aren't. You are essentially likely to play probably 3 of the best teams in the world on your way to winning the CL. Any of the teams in the competition can beat anyone else on their day.

The quicker people realise that the Champions League is all about being on it on the day the better. To think Chelsea are realistically the best team in Europe is delusional.

I am pretty sure when Liverpool play them next week they will smash them.

Say Manchester United win their Europa League group, play a Porto or Lille and get knocked out in the quarters. It will be considered progress but the reality is when we got knocked out in group stages last year we beat the previous years finalists and semi finalists.

I wouldn't be surprised if the main reason he's going is to try and win the UCL, he'd go down as a legend if he was to win that for them after so many years of missing out. I guess it's almost like one last challenge but one which is incredibly do-able.

It will absolutely be one of his goals, going to PSG to try and do it wouldn't be the same with the Messiah there.

Man City will be in the Europa League group stages with their group. PSG and RB are the kind of teams that can really damage Pep sides as they are great on the counter.

As a City fan (since the early 80s) I wholeheartedly agree.

Will be genuinely gutted if Ronaldo goes to City....

He knows he's loved by United fans and talks about Ferguson as his father figure. Why potentially ruin all that. If you want another UCL/Ballon D'or - go to PSG instead.

It can't possible be about wages - he doesn't need the money.

Sounds pathetic but would be awful to see him playing in a City shirt....

That's a bold statement adam. It was about as tough a group as City could have got but they're still odds on to qualify from it - Leipzig are a very useful side but they're a million miles behind City. The key for City is that they pick up 6 points from Brugge - it was ultimately failing to do that, not games vs Leipzig and PSG, that killed Utd last season. Pick up 6 points from Brugge and City will pick up enough points from 4 games vs Leipzig & PSG to qualify.

He doesn't give a single ****. The only team Ronaldo really cares about is CR7.

He hasn't needed the money for a very long time but for people like Ronaldo its about the money, the reputation, the challenge and the personal glory. He would 100% go to City and hope to win the CL one last time.

Messi could have stayed at Barca but they couldn't pay him what he wanted so he left. Loyalty in football is largely a lie these days.

I got the impression that even if Messi played for free they couldn't register him due to already being over the limit? Not that i'd ever have expected him to play for free anyway.

Looks like they're finally able to register Aguero following pay cuts across a few players. I guess it shows who does love the club when you see that it's the like of Pique/Busquets agreeing to the cuts (i accept they're probably still being paid very well) vs the likes of Coutinho/Griezman who are on considerably more.

^ Correct.

They've only now been able to register all of there summer signings but it would take a lot more players taking big pay cuts to have been able to include Messi in their wage structure.

Messi could've either waited it out in the hope more players took wage cuts or look elsewhere and he looked elsewhere.

Most players don’t need the money - but I don’t see many playing for free. Why should they?

Exactly. For us schmucks maybe earning under 50k year we would think that earning a few million a year would be enough for anyone but once you are earning that much you just look at the people earning 10m a year then those people look at the ones earning 50m a year. Wealth is all relative and there are very few people who wouldn't take more money if offered.

I don't want Ronaldo at United either way. I think he is past it and at the point where hes a net detriment to any team that is actually good.

Why he got 36 goals last season in a real poor Juve team. More goals than Lukaku who won the league and everyone thinks is a fantastic buy.
