Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

Feels like a mistake for me. It's a big amount of money that i'd much prefer to be spent elsewhere, and i wonder where the opportunities for other players are going to come from.

However i also said a similar thing about Cavani, so happy to be wrong!

Yeah, I'm not convinced. If we get him on a free and don't pay him insane wages then that makes it a bit better but I doubt either of those things will happen.

Hopefully its only on a 1 year deal. Happy to be proved wrong but I think he will do more harm than good to the team.

Yeah, whilst I like the romance of him coming back to see out his final decent years at Utd I think it might throw the team out of whack… we still need a bloomin’ CDM. If we get him and that, then awesome!

I must admit I am quite interested to see how Ronaldo Part 2 does in the Premier League, I know his fitness levels are off the scale but he is still 36 and its been a long time since he played in a league that has the attributes of the EPL.

If Liverpool do sign Bissouma I wonder if that is an indication that time is even more running out for Keita
Liverpool based journo's have already rubbished the Bissouma links but regardless, I'm not sure I see the link to Keita's situation. Bissouma's a more defensively minded midfielder where as Keita is a more attack minded midfielder. Klopp's started Keita in both our opening games ahead of numerous other midfield options , not really the actions of somebody that's given up on a player.

At the start of the window I was sure we needed another CM but I'm less concerned now. With Klopp using Elliott in a midfield 3 we have lots of midfield options and I suspect that if we do any business before the window closes it will be another forward if and when Origi or Minamino leaves.

I'm not even sure that Keita is a footballer at times. Could be that the Bissouma links are bunkum but then again you said that you thought Liverpool were going to sign another player before the window ended (ironically it was me who said we wouldnt) so its looking possible you were right and I was wrong :)

That's an interesting view. Keita's performances, imo, have never been in question. It's just been keeping him fit that's been the issue. His ability to carry the ball through midfield, link play with the forwards and make clever passes is something we've lacked in midfield for years. That said, the arrival of Thiago and emergence of Elliott gives us those things too.

I was of course using a degree of hyperbole but even so I just have never been very impressed with Keita, perhaps not his fault, it could just be that the nature of the EPL means that he is not afforded the time on the ball that he used to get in the Bundesliga. At 52m I expected more of him, at times he looks ponderous with the ball, I think I can count the number of key passes on my fingers. Bottom line is that I simply dont rate him, tbh I dont think a single other team in the "big 6" would actually take Keita. He's "ok" at times but "ok" is far below the bar I set for us.
