Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Ornstein reporting Chelsea are in for Frenkie de Jong now - I hope they get him just to bring an end to this sorry saga.

Some reports we're looking at Ruben Neves who would be a decent upgrade in midfield, but I'm sure there are other possibilities. Fred and McTominay aren't exactly amazing.

When the FDJ/Chelsea stories first popped up the other week I assumed it was just bs reporting/trolling but if Chelsea end up signing him it could turn out to be the best transfer saga in a very long time. Not only would Utd have been left hanging but Barca would have stole all Chelsea's transfer targets and then got Chelsea to pay for them by buying FDJ.

My god that would actually be hilarious. FDJ would be a interesting fit next to a Kanye and jorginho, not sure how that would work.

Rumours about Utd going for Tielemans now. Don’t know how true it is

For the amount he would cost Neves is a bad buy IMO. Decent but nothing particularly special.

I don't understand the technicalities of FFP, wage caps and how Barcas "levers" have affected these things but the issue with United and FdJ always seemed to be with the deferred wages. We had an agreement with the club.

Only thing I can think is that perhaps Chelsea have agreed a large signing on bonus with FdJ to cover those wages and he will leave Barca without any sort of compensation for them.

Bit of a weird signing for Chelsea though as I wouldn't have said that was a position they were in dire need of filling. They need to sort out their defence and probably a striker first.

Both Kayne (and Kante) and Jorginho will be off in 12 months I suspect. Chelsea are looking to rebuild their midfield and FDJ would be a natural replacement for Jorginho.

Yeah I wasn't sure what they would do with Kante, I still he has some good years in him. What a player to move on. Unless they wanna cash in while they can.

He played just 1700 odd minutes (50%) in the PL last season and around 2100 the season before last. Injuries have taken their toll on him.

I believe his contract is up next summer and it was reported by some Chelsea journo's that they're not in a rush to offer him or Jorginho an extension.

I think Kante's a good player but I do think sometimes people go a bit ott with him and coupled with the fact that he's regularly injured in the last few seasons, I can see why Chelsea might be happy to say bonjour to him next summer.
