Summer Transfer Window 22/23

It feels a bit like Utd are experiencing the sort of issues relegation flirters like Southampton have all the time.

Most of the (overpriced) dross bought in recent years just stays on a loan cycle because no one will buy said dross having spent the season demonstrating they're dross. It's a struggle to find good players worth the money because why would they want to join a team that looks in such turmoil, unless for mega wages. Wages you struggle to get to stack up on a balance sheet because all the money is being sapped away by the aforementioned dross.

Utd if anything are in a worse version of this because their dross is all £20m+ players wanting £200k a week, so the market to offload people to is even smaller than the likes of Southampton trying to get rid of players like Hoedt or Carillo.

That makes sense for trying to move on players like Martial. It doesn't make sense that we can't move on players like Tuanzebe, Williams, Chong etc.

Not only that, but you have big egos who think they're better than they are. This isn't just limited to the players.

It's frustrating how slowly we're moving on players. We've sold a grand total of 0 players who were here last year. Just Pereira and Levitt who were out on loan.

I think that the management needs to accept that we need a clean slate and to stop behaving in the way we have been recently. The reason we can never move players on is:

- The almost always regress or look rubbish by the time we want to sell - imagine how bad you have to be to look crap in this United setup.
- We always give far to high wages making them harder to sell
- We don't price them for a move and end up holding onto them for years too long.

To an extent yes but taking Tuanzebe as an example, he's reportedly on £50k per week, seems to have struggled for appearances even on loan at Villa/Napoli and his contract expires at the end of this season.

They're hardly going to have people lining up to buy him in that scenario.

£50k would put him well amongst the top earners at Southampton, which is probably his level given Villa didn't seem keen on him last season. But why would a club like Southampton go for him when you compare him with a purchase they have made this summer, like Bella-Kotchap? Younger, cheaper and was getting competitive game time.

I think even with players like Tuanzebe the deal he's on and his lack of recent performance makes it very hard to find a team that both want him and can also afford him/his expectations.

When you add up all of Ronaldo's time at United, didn't he spend more time not wanting to be there than happy? Yet somehow he was a club legend despite spending the first three or four years doing step overs badly and then wanting out as soon as he hit top form.

have united confused “Close” with “signed”? Considering, pondering, discussing, discussing internally, monitoring, keeping warm….

It’s the same for them. Think it was laurie whitwell who said the other day (ironic) that saints where looking to sign Williams on loan last season but laughed at the wages, wanted Utd to pay 75%.

So it’s the same for the entire squad.

Simon Stone at the BBC is also running the 'Ronaldo can leave' story now.

I think some teams would want him, but he'd need to be taking a significant pay cut. Atletico for example are keen.

Manchester United could let Cristiano Ronaldo leave Old Trafford during the current transfer window amid concerns about how the striker's mood is affecting morale in the camp.

Senior figures have been alarmed at how quickly the overwhelmingly positive feelings around the camp generated during a successful pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia have disappeared.

The Portuguese has a year left on the contract he signed when he returned to the club from Juventus less than 12 months ago. but wants United to let him leave this summer.

While successive Premier League defeats to Brighton and Brentford have clearly shaken United badly, part of the overall picture has been put down to Ronaldo.

The Portuguese is said to be a negative presence at the club, hardly communicates with his team-mates in the canteen and has made no secret of his desire to move away.

Sources have told BBC Sport they fear there will be no change to United's current issues until Ronaldo has gone and there is a belief amongst some that even if the forward left and there was no replacement, the general uplift would trigger a significant improvement in overall performances.

Isn't it Balague driving the Ronaldo to athleti stuff, you know the guy that wrote Ronaldo's biography..think it's more that's Ronaldo's only hope and he's trying to drive interest where there isn't any.

Would Atletico want him with the fan reaction? They even held up banners saying they didn't want him lol

They don't want him, doubt they could afford his wages and I doubt that he would take enough of a paycut to make it happen. They also currently have Griezmann, Morata and Felix. He also doesn't really fit with their do or die attitude towards the whole team defending and working for each other. Just can't see it.

Sounds like Ronaldo is just worried that his CL goalscoring record will be broken by Messi. There are loads of CL clubs that would take him, only issue is wages and his ego.
