Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Is he, Martinez, going to be used as centre back? He can also play as a defensive midfielder. I do agree about the fee though.
You arent spending big money on a CB who can play as a DM to play him as a DM. You just sign a DM. He's played the DM role 22 times out of 177 appearances.

His height alone would be a massive concern if I was a United fan.

I've got no idea whether KLP is worth that or not. Hull supporters seem upset to be losing him for that amount.

The word from some senior members of staff within our club is that there's simply no mid-market at all, and what would have cost you £7.5m a couple of years ago is at least double now... players seem to be either free or you'll see no change from £15m!

Crazy!
Sounds like the every day struggle with life right now :o

PSG have apparently put these players up for sale.

Wijnaldum could be a great signing for a team needing midfield reinforcements...unsure how Gueye has been performing. Wasn't he highly regarded only a short while ago?
  • Georginio Wijnaldum
  • Mauro Icardi
  • Ander Herrera
  • Idrissa Gueye
  • Layvin Kurzawa
  • Julian Draxler
  • Junior Dina Ebimbe
  • Rafinha
  • Sergio Rico

It sounds like we're close to agreeing a deal for Lisandro Martinez. £46m from Ajax. A very good defender by all accounts, though he's fairly short - hopefully he'll be like Cannavaro :p

The De Jong deal seems to have stalled. Ultimately a deal between the clubs seems to be in place, however:

Barca owe him €17m in deferred wages

If he leaves, they're asking him to write that debt off
If he were to stay, they want him to accept a large pay cut as their wage bill is a mess and they can't afford to keep him at present
It appears as if FDJ and his agent have said they're happy to just sit tight and see what happens, knowing Barca would be in breach of contract if they won't pay him his agreed salary.

I don't see why Man Utd should be paying extra so Barca can clear a debt to the player - something I suspect Barca want.

All the while they are lining up signings totalling over £100m. What a farce.

We won't. Frenkie is doing the right thing. He doesn't have to do anything at all. Sit tight and see if Barca want to either pay him for those deferred wages or pay him for those deferred wages. United should set them a deadline and just move on if Barca can't decide.

It sounds pretty simple. Barca have to decide between spending a lot of money on a player that is somewhat surplus and actually filling their coffers from his transfer.

The YouTuber knows best...hmmm. It doesn't show many crosses into the box and he has cleared it but admittedly I didn't watch all 12mins of a bloke defending.

Maybe the hope is just that whilst we might concede a couple more goals from crosses during open play (you'd assume we have enough height at set pieces), the benefits of having a capable defender on the ground far outweigh everything else given our alternatives?

Either that or maybe he's just got superb calves that can lift him 3ft off the ground :D

If you're playing him as part of a back 4 then that's a massive gamble. Has there ever been a successful, short CB in the PL era?

I'd second that. Also 46m on another CB. How can Martinez command a fee bigger than Konate did, that's ludicrous. About 380 million on the current defence excluding Jones.
