Summer Transfer Window 22/23

It's a tricky thing to balance. They're right that stopping spending could limit their ability to compete and thus lower their income in the future. My issue is that they're just spending really badly. Do they really need to spend 50m on a striker that is about to turn 34? That is madness.

Surely Barca now need to do a mass sell...so confused how they are able to afford these new players and give Dembele a new contract.

Dembele took a large pay cut I believe.

Thing is, I don't think thats the case. Outside of perhaps 4 teams in La Liga the rest are pretty poor. They probably aren't going to win the CL anytime soon and I doubt they will win La Liga anytime soon. The amount of extra revenue these expensive signings will bring in is limited IMO. They would be far better served by going back to their La Masia days of trying to build a squad of homegrown talent with supplementation from external sources.

FDJ is opposed to a move to Utd or any English club.

Id be wary of a player with that attitude. Shows a possible fragility that they may not fancy the intense physical football of the prem, and prefer nancying around in tippy tippy leagues.

Theres been no suggestion of this and there isn't a popsicles chance that EtH hasn't talked to him about a move to United and there isn't a popsicles chance that we are still pursuing a player who isn't happy to move for this much money.

FdJ is happy at Barca and by all accounts is happy to stay. Barca want to sell him. What they don't want to do is pay his deferred wages. Its really simple. He can sit there and get paid insane wages for the rest of his contract or Barca can pay him to leave.

Hes not an idiot. Coming out and saying that he wants to leave and join United wouldn't do him any favours in any way.

On FDJ.

There's no way Ten Hag hasn't sounded him out directly to ensure he would be open to joining.

He's refusing to leave because it would mean he loses out on €17m while Barca sign the likes of Raphinha and Lewandowski. Ludicrous.

It's worth noting the majority of De Jong news is coming from various Spanish sources of questionable reliability, it's a mixed bag and they all want retweets and clicks because that's their job.

He probably did want to stay at Barca - however, now they're effectively forcing him out and are trying to rob him blind, I bet he's less keen.

I know it's easy to just accuse Barca of being mean but all they're doing is what every club in the world could, should and probably would do. They're trying to negotiate the best possible deal for themselves. Nobody is holding a gun to FDJ's head and forcing him to agree to anything - he has a contract with Barca and if they do not honour that agreement without his willingness to change it then he'll be free to leave for nothing. All that's happening right now is Barca are saying he's free to leave, if he wishes but on the basis that he writes off those deferred wages - if he doesn't agree then his existing contract still remains.

Whether this is a bluff from Barca and they'll eventually cave or whether a compromise is reached between the 3 parties, only time will tell.

These Ronaldo rumours are too much, athletico Madrid the new one. Can you really see him joining there when Someone asks so much of his players. Ronaldo does not want to do the running.
