Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Exciting talent, which has yet to be fulfilled, but the money would've been better spent on a DM or CB. Don't really understand the signing tbh.
It doesn't work like that. Not signing an out and out DM or CB has nothing to do with us signing Gravenberch. We know there's more money available but the issue is and always has been for us that unless the club feel they're absolutely desperate then they will not take punts on players because the risk of signing the wrong player is more dangerous than not signing somebody. It would be easy for the club to go out and spend £50m on a DM or a CB - there's loads out there but most of them aren't and never will be good enough and if we end up with one of them, on £100k per week, then we'll be stuck with them for 5 years.

I'm completely comfortable with the midfield situation now. That's not to say that I think our defensive midfield options are perfect, they're clearly not but I fail to see who we could sign that would be an obvious long term solution. In Endo, Bajcetic, Mac Allister, Thiago and now even Gravenberch (and even Jones) we've got enough options there until we can find the long term answer. I'd rather we held tight than spend £60m on somebody that proves not to be good enough and ends up sat on the bench for 5 years, effecting who we can sign next summer and the summer after

I don't think we will end up doing something but I do think we're bordering on being desperate at the back and do need to take a punt on somebody. It's not just the fact that 3 of our 4 CB's are prone to a niggle but in years gone by we had a bit of cover from the flexibility of Milner and Fabinho. With no Milner and Bradley suffering a stress fracture in his back, Gomez is now our only cover at RB as well as one of our 4 CB's. Not signing somebody is going to leave us massively riding our luck with injuries unless the club believe Quansah is the real deal.

Agree with all of this. I think I'm actually happier with Gravenberch and Endo than I would have been with Caicedo for more than twice as much, although I like the fact that the club has shown a willingness to try to spend.

We've gone from an injury prone Thiago being our best midfielder to him probably not making it into our first XI. While we haven't signed a high class outright CDM, we have a solid and cheap option in Endo, and Gravenberch, Macallister and Bajetic can all cover the role (switching to a double pivot if need be).

I agree with the concerns in defence as well, but I'm not sure what the answer is.I really like Kilman at Wolves, but nobody especially jumps out and as you've said the club doesn't just spend for the sake of it.

Trying to work this out so Liverpool buy 3 midfielders and a winger who they will turn into an 8 (has very little play time
there over the past two season’s). Miss out and two of their main targets who they actually bid for not rumours.

Buy two midfielders from Germany. One old chap and one who been sitting on a bench. What’s the combined fee?

Transfers suddenly become good value around the 40million mark after mocking other transfers values around the similar price point.

Yea, your meat and potatoes :p

And never give up on that terrible Szobozlai take, even when he's posing with the Ballon d'Or in 18 months.

:D his mins played out wide is all I need to state. Lads got talent can he covert maybe? At least when Mo goes you already got his replacement ^^

Also I know you always been pretty upfront about Liverpool spending but why do most others class Liverpool spashing the cash as rebuilding and others buying success?

1. Liverpool have hardly splashed the cash
2. Look at Wijnaldum. He came in as more of a winger than Szob ever was, and became one of the best central midfielders in the league pretty quickly
