Superman: Legacy

Didnt the similarly shot sneaked out set snaps of Heath Ledger as the joker also cause a lot of negativity, but worked brilliantly in context ?

Appreciate it wasnt a spandexy rubber suit but still...
It's not quite the same though.

Ledger's Joker was a replacement that was long time in waiting. Everyone was just waiting on them. Here, an existing and generally well liked Superman and actor was replaced unceremoniously very recently, and the facts of what happened that lead to the replacement has put a very scummy shady light onto the current teams (Gunn). Leaving fans non plus'd over the matter, where unless if Gunn's version meets or exceeds Cavil's Superman, it's going to get a hard nope from very harsh comparisons. This was stated a long time back and it's playing out exactly as predicted.

Ledger's Joker was also not the center of the film universe and would not be setting the tone of that film universe either. If we look at the Joker film itself, that's fine as it set the tone for that universe there. Here, it's replacement Superman (for a replacement universe), but it's highly disappointing because of David's costume being so ill fitting and looking really off. CGI can't fix everything and if it was needed to fix something like that, you wasted the money doing so getting the suit in the first place; just put on a motion capture suit instead.

Some more pictures out and the suit just looks so cheap. The pants had creases and more like some budget cosplay. I hope it looks much better on screen because it's going to have a hard time topping Cavill.

There's probably going to be a lot of post work that we're missing, but there's only so much you can do with that given the overall design looks like tat and will even if they shop it to look more form fitting.

I honestly don't know how companies can **** things up to this degree, Superman should be an easy sell and they absolutely had that potential with Cavil. They'd have been better off doing a soft reboot if they wanted to change the tone of things, he was perfect in the role, the issue was with the script and the fact they went too hard with the first movie.

Doesnt sound too thrilling. That black Noir character we seen in some of the pictures allegedly could be Ultraman!!?

costumes look crap but i'll be giving Gunn the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he has made anything that wasn't good (i haven't watched his troma stuff though)

Can't wait to see some of the final footage... the people working in post are the real heroes in this movie
Yeah hopefully it's not as bad as the pictures look. It will be more positive when it's all touched up with the effects and camera etc.

Wait. I thought this was an AI by one of you guys

I'm sorry, but again, looking at the posted photos (including the newer ones of Lantern and Hawkgirl), there is no way CGI is fixing those monstrosities of a costume they have on each hero without needing to do an entire replacement. And if that's what they wanted to do in the first place, it'll have been easier to replace with a mo-cap suit. Not unless if they intend to do a J J "Lensflare" Abrams and every scene has a lensflare blowing out part of the scene all the time.

I'm not sure about the actors/actresses playing the roles yet.

The actors playing superman, I've not see anything he has done, so he could be a good actor but he look nothing like superman, other than the black hair.
The new superman look very weak, out of shape and small to what superman should look like. unless its the early days like Smallville and has a reason, also why does it look like he's wearing kids superman PJ's that are a few sizes too big but at the same time he looks like he has a gut and the have gone backwards to underwear on the outside.
I don't know if they are going to be using using a padded suite or CGI to fix it but even if they did why not get someone that put in the work.

also im not sure what they are trying to do but is it that easy for soldiers or even other powerful beings to get superman face down on the ground .

They are trying for Guy Gardener's bowl haircut, I dont remember him being a blond though. The outfits so far are all very very underwhelming to say the least :/

It looks so low budget it's scary, but you can guarantee this is a $200 million plus movie.

The 'fix it in post' mindset is another thing that's making cgi look so ropey these days, as the effects artists are already overloaded with work coupled with stupid deadlines.
