Supplements the debate/discussion thread

You haven't had a pre-workout supplement before have you? You'll be fine with any if that's the case, unless you drink a lot of coffee you'll respond well to the stims.

I'm thinking of mixing my own up and saving a bit of money. Other than caffeine and creatine what would be other key things to add. I mainly want it just to keep my energy levels up through the last half of the session and push out those extra reps but a decent pump would be a bonus :)

Whats a good veggie food for high protien?
I'm a bit poor at the mo after build a new PC so no supplaments for a couple weeks.
It needs to be veggie as my gf is one and much like Jules from Pulp Fiction this pretty much makes me a vegatarian.

I might try Jack3d, recommended by Paz and above.

Steedie - Do you have a link for that Neurocore? That said, some of the stuff in that looks interesting...need to read up on a couple of terms there ;)

It's fine. Nothing dodgy in at all

If you're worried about that, Jack3d shouldn't even get a second thought. One of the ingredients in it is banned in a number of sports and is banned in any natural bodybuilding show

Try eating some testicles, you might grow some of your own ;)

The taste of the Wraath is awful. I thought I'd give it a try to my normal BCAA's. I can normally stomach most things but I really had to concentrate to get thru my tub.

This however is absolutely divine

Xtend

Agreed - XTend is a great product, one of few products that I really found made a difference to my endurance during workouts. I tried BBWarehouse own version Excel, and didn't rate it at all.

Brilliant thanks buddy!
It's chicken for me tonight as she's not eating so today at least I have the balls! Mind you looking at the gains some fighters have said (and it could be them talking to convince themselves) veganism and vegetarianism can't be that bad a choice.

Man I must be getting old. This pre-training NO infusion is a completely new animal to me.

When I started out a cup of coffee and a quick scan of the ladies in the gym did the trick :p

So which pre-workout concoction is the rage these days? Want to get with the 21st century.

You might want to look at Pea Protein isolate. It's cheap and acceptable for vegatarians.

Sorry I didn't mean it like I was worried as such, more just I like to know what all the stuff is and what it 'apparently' does ;)

My suggestions in order of preference:

1. Neurocore (£23 for 50 servings)
2. Superpump Max (£30 for 40 servings)
3. N.O Xplode (£30 for 50 servings)
4. Jack3d (£20 for 40 servings I think?)
5. Pulse (which you've tried :))

I think that's a pretty good list there, although I'd swap Jack3d with N.O. Xplode personally. That being said, haven't tried N.O. Xplode.

Not so much the supplaments, more cooking actual food, as it would be silly to cook two dinners. A plate of chickeny something for me and veggie something for her, just not practical. So I'm looking for good protieny vegs I can learn to cook meals from for both of us.

I disagree with that tho.
cook double portion of veg, and then just whack a turkey breast in the oven/grill/pot with a bit of water.
oven - cooks in about 20-30 minutes, just wash the oven dish
grill - cooks in 3-4 minutes, just wash the old George foreman
pot - whack it on the hob with just a bit of water, let it simmer -> will be done in less than 15 minutes.

All require no preparation and minimum effort. there is no vegetarian alternative to quality protein if you take nuts out of the question.

Soy is horrendous in terms of amino acid profile and phytoestrogens.

I'm quite happy to eat a few meals like that but thats more just cooked food as opposed to cooking a meal if that makes any sense.
I was hoping to see if people knew of high protien ingredients like lentals, chick peas and eggs with which to cook with.
But not to worry, will check out some of the fighting forums as I know some fighters have cut meat out and report feeling faster/stronger.
