Supplements the debate/discussion thread

But again, if something gives a benefit to training/gaining mass why would you not use it at the start to make noob gains even better? ;) Hell if i was starting again i'd do/take everything that might help.

Then enough, I was just curious as I said :)

If it works then fair game, I was never told about it when I first started, and I prefer to try and keep things as 'simple' as possible in the supps department. But that is no doubt more than likely due to my financial circumstances.

I never suggested he shouldn't be, I'm just surprised he's using the stuff straight away rather than just training and eating like a mofo and downing a shake after a workout. :)

Delvis, without resorting to the usual bashing im oh so fond of, do you really think you should speak with such authority in this forum, i mean you constantly dish out advice, much of which is reasonable as you've only just learnt it yourself, but also much of which is not accurate or may not be accurate for the recipient.

You're on this thread an awful lot and i appreciate that you are doing it with the best intentions. But you really are not the person who should be giving advice to beginners, especially with a posting style that suggests you are more experienced than you are.

I've not given out advice, i've asked for his opinion. I've not said 'don't take creatine it's pointless and terrible'.

Everyone seems to be misinterpreting everything today.

And again, I further explained the post you've quoted with saying i never bothered with creatine and other supps due to financial reason.

I'm getting closer and closer to just not bothering with this forum sometimes.

i dont just mean in here just now i mean in general for all training threads. Thats just my opinion if someone else who is experienced thinks im wrong to say it then fair enough i just feel like im constantly seeing you giving authoritative advice on training/form/rehab/technique etc but in reality i think you need to get in a gym with someone who knows what they are doing so that you can make some progress

Speaking of Creatine. I've got some in the cupboard.. Don't know why I stopped taking, but I guess I might aswell finish off the bag as I still got quite a bit left.

I'm making progress ta, I've just had a back injury which put me out for over a month or two.

And as has been explained previously, I have no money to join a gym, so I make do with what I can.

But yeah, don't worry, i'll just do my own thing from now on

Perhaps you need to take a break, like myself.

Probably, I'll just not contribute to certain things and let the experts do it

Any reason why you are on creatine by the way? Just curious as you've just started up haven't you?

I have MP Whey, mixes like a dream

I'd had a discussion with my friends who are actually in decent shape about what they use/supps in general. Total mix from one guy just on whey, to one guy with everything short of roids and then the biggest of all of them does nothing but eat. Creatine was agreed upon as the safest/most reliable thing, and since I was replacing my protein bars I figured I might as well try it for one bag. I'm paying weight/gym costs but managed to rope the 'rents in to pay for supps as they know how cruddy the school food is, so while I'm effectively getting it for free I might as well! :P

It'll take a few weeks before I can really tell if the creatine is actually resulting in more growth or just causing the pump after workouts to be more extreme.

Yeah the powder itself mixes far better than anything I've had before, it's just the creapure stuff that doesn't I think, given you have the whey and it mixes perfectly.

To be fair to you, I'd always instantly gone frome hearing 'creatine' to 'roids-infused gym nuts' in my head before actually looking it up and researching it. Had I not looked it up I'd have stayed clear but the vast majority of what I found made sense biologically and backed it up.

i have found over time that i use less and less supplements and just eat better

I eat pretty well but from a childhood of not eating much I had a very small stomach which made eating any decent amount of food very uncomfortable or quite often made me sick. I've found using the supplements has enabled me to get the nutrition I need, as well as slowly building up my actual appetite as well.

Plus if you get it all from eating and then suddenly you can't exercise any more e.g. injury, then your huge appetite will just mean you go crazy fat unless you have a ridiculous amount of willpower.

Hi chaps, not ventured into this sub forum before but after a little bit of advice. So after a few years out of the gym I've just got back into it over the last few weeks. Whilst at Uni I was regularly going 3-4 times a week with at least one or two nights of footy but since graduating and working (and getting a missus) it went downhill. So my diet is pretty good but after some advice on what protein shake/supplements to go for. My routine at the minute is gym 4 times per week which involves cardio/warm up for around 30 minutes then 1-1.5hr of weights. I've have a read of the op but not really sure where to start. I'm guessing just starting with a whey protein based shake to improve recovery perhaps just after training for the next couple of months whilst I get back upto speed and previous strength. I'm probably still carrying a few extra pounds (although my build is fairly slim) around the waist so probably would be after something with relatively low carbs. Am I on the right track or whey off? Any advice welcomed.:)

So why would you use it?

From the little online research I did while looking in to it, creatine Boosts the formation of ATP, and ATP is something that the body uses to deliver energy to where it is needed.

This is really basic, and only what I have learnt through my own research so don't take it as gospel.

The effective impact of creatine supplementation is that it could help you push out that extra rep, or add that extra 2.5kg to your lift. It doesn't help you grow, and is useless on its own, if the body doesn't have the energy supply to shift around then how is improving the energy flow going to help if you know what I mean.

I don't use creatine when I am cutting, but this is just my thoughts on it.

Went to buy 10 x 42p tins of Sardines after work... there was only 9 left in brine :( So picked up a sunflower oil with chili flavour. Anyone know what it's like?

It was about the way you phrased your initial comment about ksanti using creatine as just a beginner, it did come across as if you were implying he shouldnt.

Don't take things to heart to much just occasionally remember people have to interpret what your saying from a computer screen ;)

Nah dude, don't be silly

Unfortunately in a sport such as this, where there are hundreds upon hundreds of conflicting opinions about the science behind supplements, the form with certain exercises and nutrition etc, you're never going to please everybody. You're always going to rustle someones jimmies with an opinion that goes against what they've been led to believe and vice versa

While I agree with some of what's been said, in that, unless you're sure about the advice you're giving, maybe hold off, but with that said, this is a public forum after all and you're just as entitled to speak your opinion as everyone else

I admire your enthusiasm
