Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Well according to a few calculators etc I need to be taking in about 220g of protein a day, currently I am no where near that, more like 125ish.

I guess I could try some whey and taking it on the 3 days I lift? Is it best to take it pretty much straight after training or does it not really matter?

What whey (low sugar and cals) would you recommend, I'm not too bothered about taste unless its awful!

Sorry for all the questions...

MP's standard whey is fine, unflavoured if you don't mind the taste.

It sounds like those calculators aren't using your lean body mass. Most people should aim for 160-180g a day.

Also, I tend to only count protein from meat/fish/dairy/eggs.

Remember that you're only using the whey to supplement your daily protein. One serving amounts to approximately 20g of protein. If you're on around 120g per day at the moment, then two scoops per day would make sense.

Id personally eat a touch more, as going by your above post sounds like you eat hardly anything :p even if you are on a diet

Don't worry I won't be doing that, going to have a look at my diet again and add in some more protein whilst having 1 scoop after my training 3 times a week and see how that goes.

that aint that much, i bulk on 1.5g/lb and weigh 235, in case you hadnt realised bodybuilding costs a fortune im @ about £20 a day min for food most guys i know spend under 10

£140 a week on food just for yourself? Good thing I'm not going for the bodybuilder look then.

that really isnt much m8 you really spend less than 600 a month on food? nuts. I think overall with meals out etc must be over 1.2k a month. Assumed that was pretty normal, though a lot in here are students or young etc.

lol wut?

u eat 1.2k a month?

family of four here and we probably only spend around £150 a week on food

never really thought about it, low bills though, helps me. Still i wonder how you can bodybuild on less than 600 a month i spose its poss with bulk chicken and rice day in day out. I also make the mistake of going to the supermarket daily for my food (other than chicken breast which i do bulk buy).
