Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I think it was FF who mixed his own up a while ago? I was going to do the same and bought the Beta-alanine, caffeine etc then realised the initial cost was more than i expected even if it did work out cheaper in the long run so gave up :p Still got most of that left..

That's the kicker, isn't it? It's a lot more convenient for people to buy a ready-mixed powder and pay X% more.

I just dose with caffeine, instant oats, milk and creatine and turn up the METAAAAAAAAAAL on the headphones...

Although it was Queen's Greatest Hits II, today. Might explain a few things...

Can someone recommend me some good creatine?

Search for it and sort by price. It's a chemical, and there is no practical comparison of 'better' or 'worse'.

The key is how you consume it. There are a couple of schools of thought: a load and maintain scheme, or just a long term maintain equivalent. Always consume it with carbohydrate of some form to help it work as it's meant to, and you'll be away.

Do many of you use MP Kre-Alkyln? Just ordered some. Apparently it doesn't require any bulking phase and the effect is instant.

This is what I mean by 'expensive' creatine.

There is no evidence I have seen to indicate pH-balanced creatine does anything over regular stuff, probably because the effect is statistically insignificant and therefore not worth it.

Creatine itself is just a chemical compound and it's absorption occurs simply by ingesting it. When taken in the appropriate dose pattern with carbohydrate, it leads to increased muscle power output. Taken by itself, it doesn't do as much. This will happen irrespective or 'bulking' or not.

Better get on it before the end of the month!

This. I will be getting a few months in advance before the price increase come payday.

Thankfully all I need is Unflavoured Whey. Are most supplements going on the luxury list? If so, I might need to get some more BCAA, Glutamine and Creatine.

Do you really need them?

Just curious...

They whey yes, primarily for my post workout, I also have one scoop in the morning.

I've said it a million times but, my money situation is always on the brink of going in to debt, so buying the whey works out a bit cheaper normally than buying the extra food.

The casein, I take that instead of eating something at 10pm

VAT is going to be added from 1st Oct so an instant 20% increase

Great

Everything is getting the increase iirc.

It's bloody stupid - taxing something which should be motivating people to get healthier. Although not a big supp user, it's about the fitness industry - I just hope they start taxing fast food and stupid **** food as well.
