Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I find I've got a high tolerance to caffeine, so maybe I need to check out Craze?

Which simply has a shed load of caffeine in it. ;)

Is your high tolerance to caffeine due to drinking a lot of caffeinated beverages during the day? Or simply because you find you don't get a kick out of it?

The only thing that looks close to interesting in terms of mental focus, whatever, is DMAE.

However, I'd probably suggest getting some better sleep prior to training (at least 8hrs) as a very effective starting point...

You'll all be pleased to hear that I now have scales and a marked scoop for my creatine dosing, my bodily functions have returned to normal and I don't think there is any lasting damage... (Other than the huge dent in my pride/common sense... Haha!)

ALl good.

Kudos for admitting it, too! :)

Regarding lasting damage, you have to be going on serious dosing over a longer period than a week for anything interesting to happen. And by interesting, I mean dangerous.

oh hell yeah if people keeled over and died from too much creatine i think we would have much bigger problems as a species!

Yea i drink quite a lot of caffeine during the day, Jack3d used to be awesome for giving me a kick. Im going to try this Craze stuff, does anyone know the best place to buy it from because i heard about a load of fakes floating about?

I know this might be a bit ironic coming from the resident Roider, but are you guys sure its a good idea to be relying on these stimulants to get the most from your workout? The way the bodies adrenal response system functions you will doubtless build up a tolerance and then be lethargic when you DONT have anything, needing the compound merely to bring you up to par.

Just a thought

Predator nutrition are the only authorised dealers.

I tend to agree with this really. Supplements, in my opinion, are exactly that, supplementary. They go alongside my diet to make up nutritional content. They do not found my diet. If I'm tired, I sleep or eat more. I find a single bottle of Mountain Dew will keep me buzzing all day...

If you're finding caffeine isn't having an effect, then clearly you're becoming a bit dependent/resistant to it.

Mind you, I do admire the irony of UE posting this originally...

U_E I completely agree, this is why I only ever took Jack3D when I needed a boost rather than every session. If you're feeling fit and roaring to go, why bother with it?

I don't bother with anything any more. Well, coffee first thing is a given so i'm usually awake enough from that still now i'm morning training. I drink a ton of coffee though, so i dont really get any stim effects from it. I would like to give one of the decent pre workouts a try just for the odd day (and who doesn't want the ridiculous pumps :D)

Anyway i'm playing with sleep at the moment. 4 nights in a row of ~5 hours sleep and i'm absolutely fine. No lack of energy or anything. No this probably isn't optimal for recover but i don't sleep for that much longer naturally. I'll see how it goes.

@ kimi:

Just look at the ingredients of Craze before you splurge on it and fail to notice anything because of your caffeine tolerance levels.

The easiest way to deal with this specific problem is to reduce your caffeine dependence: I did this simply because I spent a week with AWFUL coffee, which was so bad I was happy with the cold turkey that ensued.

Lo and behold, a week later, taking my normal 250/300mg of caffeine pre-workout actually helps.

The only thing in Craze which as any evidence supporting its function as a 'stimulant' to help with "mind-muscle" connection (their words) is caffeine. If your caffeine tolerance is high, then I submit you'll only get a placebo effect.

Just my 2p. And I'm also to eat a hat of some description when evidence (not colloqual 'ZOMGs') appears to demosntrate the difference.

A lot of you know I suffered or occasionally suffer from motivation. Heck we all have our down times. However, if you can't get to the gym, without taking supplementation then my personal opinion is that there's something more in depth to be addressed, before even thinking about taking any "boosters". That's just my personal take on it - happy for you to disagree. :)

Quoted for truth (would have quoted UE/KD/etc. posts regarding the dependence on supplements, but hey).
