On a completely flat treadmill? Ok, I'll try it

But that still doesn't change the fact that you're not burning 250 calories in 12 minutes

your staying under my recovery zone, then you should look into becoming a professional runner because your basically mo farah or even better than him.

is there a reliable way to measure? obviously what it says on the machine can't be trusted?

too much obsession with number of calories burned.

MyZone is a more accurate way of telling your heart rate and calories burnt because of all the data it has about you (height/weight/BF etc etc)

so is a polar heart rate monitor :o

apart from it doesn't have Bodyfat info, it has everything else, age, sex, height, weight, etc.

im on a rest day today, but i shall do a 12 minute run tomorrow and upload calories burned from my monitor tomorrow

Ill see what my Garmin data shows tonight on my ride home. I have a flat section i time trail train on so will be at 80% + of my max heart rate for a good while, see if i can remember to check at 12mins

Well I look forward to the results. Depending on intensity and BW, I don't think its beyond the realms of possibilty to burn 250 kcals while running for 15 minutes.

:p

They're all **** and a very rough estimate at best.

Take Howard Webb in the confederations cup.

A referee isn't even constantly running yet using all their fancy tech he burned 3,000 calories in 90 minutes according to Sky Sports.

"The thorough checks that referees undertake revealed that he burned off 3,000 calories during the game which was played in the late afternoon, Brazil time, but with high humidity."

Fair enough it was in a hot country with high humidity.

But my home gym doesn't have air con, and we did have a heatwave recently, etc. Whereas if i was in a commercial gym with air con on im betting my calorie burn would be slightly less.

He burned 500 calories per 15 minutes according to those stats.

He is also someone people would regard as physically fit, due to the amount of running he does. So him being overweight or unfit doesnt even come into it.

I don't see why so many people find it hard to believe 250 in under 15 mins is easily achievable with running, imo it is the hardest form of cardio.

Considering the general consensus is that you would just about burn 3,000 kcals running a marathon I find it hard to believe someone burnt that in 90 minutes of non continuous exercise, but then again it's not unusual for the mass media to just pull stats from their rectums when it comes to things like this.
