Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Unflavoured + Flavdrops = fine for me. I only get through about 4-5 scoops a week on average though because it's way too easy to hit my protein just from food and it's only if I need 20-40g with virtually no fat/carbs left I turn to dat powder, so I guess as a consequence taste only needs to be 'drinkable' as it's down the hatch so quick. I can't imagine rinsing a 5kg bag in a few weeks, or drinking shakes on the daily.

Protein shake with carbs = fail unless you are a skinny runt that struggles to gain weight

also based on 100gram servings
most regular proteins are based on 25g servings

so it's a misleading 10kg.

Serving Amount
Per 100g when mixed with water:
Energy: 401kcal / 1679 kJ
Protein: 36g
Carbohydrates: 56.8g
of which sugars: 7.9g
Fat: 3.4g
of which saturates: 1.5g
Fibre: 1.9g
Sodium: Trace

VS
TPW 80
Product is Whey Protein 80
Values based on: per 25g serving
Energy (kcal) 99
Energy (kJ) 420
Protein (dry basis) (g) 19.6
Carbohydrates (g) 2.4
Carbohydrates of which Sugars (g) 1.9
Fat (g) 1.7
Fat of which Saturates (g) 1.4
Sodium (mg) 48
Cholesterol (mg) 52

I can't be bothered to do the maths but 4kg of TPW @ £44 likely lasts a lot longer than 10kg of that @ £50

considering the amount is only slightly over twice as much but the serving sizes are 4x as large and it's bulked up with carbs

It's not misleading at all it's marked as a whey and carb mix, not pure whey.
It's a different product with a different use.

Well I've been trying to improve the flavour of TPW Chocolate Silk and still no improvement. Fundamentally, it has a very odd texture and taste.
I tried adding:
milk (to give thickness)
a squirt of toffee flavouring
peanut butter
coco powder
choc fudge flavouring.

This has got me completely stumped. I'm quite inventive with protein powders and can usually come up with a good recipe, but not with Chocolate Silk. This stuff just tastes so unnatural, it's unlike any other flavour I have tried (and I have tried many). It would be easier to simply use unflavoured whey from the get-go.

A good recipe which I havent used in quite some time is unflavoured whey + coco powder + coconut milk + water + sweetner. Somebody on this forum recommended this to me and it works nicely.

Can anyone recommend a Pre-Workout supplement that will give me a boost of energy? I go to the gym at lunch time during the working week and find even by then my energy is flagging, whilst when I visit during the weekends I'm full of energy! Stating the obvious I know ;)

Strong double espresso. Don't waste your money with this NO2, stim filled pre workouts. Not worth it IMO. I'm having my espresso with a teaspoon of coconut oil at the minute. Shredding fuel! (Low carbing)

Or (normal) coffee/tea.
Anything with caffeine.
Or just buy some caffeine tablets.

For me, caffeine is by far and away the best supplement ever invented, in terms of results and price. Nothing comes close.
