Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Great. I agree with you on all counts then :)

Though probably not a £50 note for the snorting - you don't know what else you'd be taking at the same time ;)

My office has no windows so despite getting out at lunch for a bike ride and such I feel I don't really get enough sun. On top of that it's not exactly super sunny right now.

There's a GREAT new one on Amazon for D3 by a company called Oxford Vitality - it has 5000iu plus 100mcg of vitamin K2, which is currently a canditate for 'something worth supplementing' unless you eat a ton of natto. I don't think they're oil caps though so if you get them, take them with food that contains a fat source as D3 is fat soluable not water soluable.

Ah..I'd already ordered the other stuff so I'll have to make do for now. Well, have to make do for about half a year. There's tons of the damn things :)

Current thoughts on CLA? Lots of positive reviews on MP but not sure how reliable they are - wiki suggests there's no actual benefit to it?

It's a very worthwhile supplement to take when trying to lose weight, however you really need to take it for a long time to see the benefit, it's not just going to start showing results after a week. But if you can afford to take it continuously while dieting then definitely do it.

Going from memory of something I read a while back early this year, I thought most studies on CLA were based around rats who's bodies use it in a different way to humans. Isn't most evidence in support of CLA anecdotal?

Probably mis-remembering so feel free to correct me.

CLA is definitely beneficial, the real question you should be asking at is how best to ingest it.

To cut a long story short I don't supplement with CLA, I use the money I didn't spend on supplements to help fund buying better quality meat and diary. I eat as much grass fed meat and dairy products as I can, which helps provide my diet with CLA, amongst many, many other benefits.
