Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I think it was the fact that lipomas might be caused by estrogen which could be found in cross filtered whey and that it could be in steroids which is why it might be more common in lifters.

Maybe a lot of 'might' and 'could' but I'd rather get 100%

Might give the strong lifts a go as last time I focussed to much on cardio, so going off body type I'd rather look like a sprinter so will seek out some sprinter training shedules
Currently 13st 9 and 5'8" with fat around my stomach area but rest is on the muscular side

I'll try the one that was recommended here, they're only a few small lumps on my arm and legs. More important now is getting my routine right if you can advise with that?

I have a couple of lipomas, one on each forearm, one is quite large and plan on getting it removed, the other is only noticable by me.

Both have been there since lifting, and none have started since using whey. And I used a horrendous amount in my first year before I knew what I was doing. I'd be very surprised if that was the case and that wasn't more proof of just how little the medical field are willing to learn about supplements and the lifestyle of lifting

Soy, whey, rice, pea or hemp brotein...

Whey is like milk, soy is like soy milk that goes thick really quickly and pea is just vile.

But if you are a pescatarian (which I don't get but won't judge!) then just eat loads of fish: it's higher in creatine than beef or whatever, so...

Been using BCAA's about 3 weeks now and it could be placebo, but i have one in a morning and sip one intra-workout and its giving me energy, making me feel more focused and just in general back to enjoying it again (all this baring in mind im cutting). But i originally tried it because a mate who competes suggested its great when training fasted and when cutting. Very happy with it, so if anyone is in a similar position and not tried BCAA's intra-workout i'd recommend.

Any recommended supplements to help with healing after a minor op? I'm planning on keeping on top of my brotein uptake and to use up the rest of my BCAAs (though that seems kind of pointless whilst I'm keeping protein intake high). I'll be eating at or slightly above maintenance too.

Nothing really that will make a noticeable difference. Glutamine is worth buying though, it helps in terms of recovery and has been show to help with healing etc. Again, it's not going to produce miracles or take weeks off your recovery time, however it's so cheap that it's worth using for the benefits it may offer in your situation.

Cheers. I kind of neglected to mention that I do take glutamine already (and vitamin D and omega 3) though aside from the vitamin D I imagine I could get a better form of the supplement. I might look into that.

I'm not expecting miracles but I also don't want to needlessly delay any recovery if I can avoid it :)

The only other thing I can suggest is a test booster, such as DAA, Tribulus. Higher test levels are associated with faster and more efficient healing, but natural test boosters will hardly turn you into Wolverine. But as you say, every little helps

Ah cool. I do have some DAA sat around that I've been off for a bit. I'll resume it shortly before the surgery I guess.

I'm a big fan of Taurine for most things, I find it particularly enhances my sleep.

Just found this you might find interesting regarding wound healing:

Taurine is cheap, readily available and flavourless so worth a punt if you're throwing everything at it.

Always get my best nights sleep on 3-5g of Taurine and no unpleasant dreams like ZMA.

One of the few things that has stayed a staple over the years in my ever decreasing supplementation.
