Next round is Brazil - and we all know how Rubens' luck is around that place. In 16 races there so far, he's retired 11 times IIRC. So if Button doesn't manage to put it beyond him this time out, it could still be over before Abu Dhabi. Just depends how many points Rubens can take off him tomorrow.

You could say rubens is a due a win there then ;)

One part of me has been very dissapointed with Jenson post Silverstone, another part of me knows it's no different to most drivers going for their first title.

Alonso did pretty much the same thing. Build up an early lead and defend it with more conservative driving. I think it's just about getting that first title.

The pressure has obviously gotten to Jenson or his approach is completely different. Lets not kid ourselves though it's any different to any of the past champions in recent years. MS was notorious for errors under pressure, Hakkinen too let the pressure build and had a cry in the forest, Hill wobbled on more than a few occassions as the pressure built. JV had a mid season slump and was written off. Alonso plodded to his first title. Kimi didn't get going until the end of the season and Hamilton obviously was flawless ;)

There's also a big difference having to fight your team mate as well and it's pretty clear that the car has been developed non intentionally in a direction thats favoured rubens. This would never have happened to alonso or MS.

...
The pressure has obviously gotten to Jenson ...
Didn't both Brawn GP cars do reasonably well at the start of the season but have "tailed off" subsequently; despite the car allegedly being tuned more towards Rubens' style of driving and yet nobody seems to be suggesting that "the pressure has obviously gotten" to him?

As dannyjo22 says look at most peoples first WDC and it's the same story.
I agree; I think that Button is now just driving calmly and conservatively for the WDC and that approach upsets people who are just disappointed that he isn't putting in some kamikaze drives as Hamilton did over the past two years.

fuel weights usually take around 4/5 hours.

wont be too much longer, it may be delayed as half the drivers are currently in having a natter with the stewards.

Where's the penalties for the Brawns?
Nowhere... oh shock horror....

Personal fastest sector in the sector that had the yellow flags flying. Should be 14th and 15th.

Thats the danger of going out last. Someone bins it and you're shafted.

It wasn't just the brawns, wasn't it all apart from 2 drivers. It was also only personal best sectors as that was first lap for all of them. I be surprised if there is any penalty. As it would affect so many drivers.

From James Allen tweet

#f1 Just spoken to Ross Brawn. He says neither Button nor Barri lifted off for yellow flags. I expect a penalty for quite a few drivers

#f1 Brawn drivers are going to lap 17 of the race, so team didn't hedge bets on fuel expecting penalty, they were just slow in final quali

From the live timing I believe Button had the fastest middle sector through/under the yellow flag...

It's a tough one, the book/history seems to say definite punishment, on the other hand it was also their only chance of a flying lap (although that's down to their timing), but if Button did set the fastest of anyone through it then surely that should at least be investigated, and tbh probably punished...

.

Yep def not good. be interesting what they do. If they punish like 6 drivers how would they work out who starts where? As if those times are stripped they have no fall back lap.

as far as the rules are concerned, they dont care what the lap was or its importance, its a safety rule and given various events this year iam expecting to see kimi being much further up the grid.

Only thing I can think of would be either Q1 times or x places back, hard to pick.

From one perspective I don't want them to be punished, but on the other it's a safety thing, surely the rules for safety have to be upheld, rather than being there but not being implemented as 'no harm done'...

Button, barrichello, Heidfeld, Kubica and Alonso have been pulled into the stewards for not obeying the yellow flags in Q2

Sutil pulled in for blocking Glock and pulling into the pits too sharply *eh?!* when the red flag was shown in Q3.

Good good good. Penalties for all.
