When I press the power button The CPU fan spins for a split second the stops. Nothing else seems to spin or work.

I have a green light on my mobo p5q pro and new case is antec 300.

I counted 10 mobo standoffs and 9 screws. Realised antec had pre installed some. So stripped out all out and tried again. But removing the extra standoff.

Same deal. Checked connections.

Where do I start :(

Help please :) :(

How do you clear CMOS? Take out battery?

And I have the 8pin connected.

I have used some braided cable extensions. Shop bought. So gonna take them out of the loop just in case, one is wired wrong.

Pull the power from the wall, drop the battery for say a minute or two and put back in and power back up, or there could be a clearCMOS button to press or a pair of pins near the battery socket to short out for a brief second.

go careful.

I pulled the whole battery container thing out of a mobo once when trying to remove CMOS battery.

Had to solder it back in :D

Also, check connections etc, and check the PWR lead it attached to the right pins!

You could try jumping them with a screwdriver, just in case?

Set it up outside the case (on a motherboard packaging box or something) to make sure you've not had any static shocks on the mobo or anything. If it runs out the case then got to be something wrong with the case or how it's being set up. If it doesn't then something's gone wrong with the other hardware while it's been getting moved.

EDIT* Make sure RAM and things are seated properly first but I'm guessing you'll have checked that already.

Yes.

Try also running the absolute minimum (CPU/board/one stick of ram/ and a graphics card and psu.

Would a huge jiffy bag be ok?

Want to avoid normal plastic things like that because they can cause static, either an anti-static bag or a cardboard box on a wooden surface is the best bet, avoid carpets with socks on.

EDIT* I was thinking of it turned inside out, the paper side of a jiffy bag would be fine.

Well it is safe to say I have killed it.

I have 8pin connected
24pin connected
Boot drive SSD
Graphics card
Sata cables
And only the PWR front button connected.

And it does the same thing.

I am thinking I have done static damage. But cannot see how FFS.

Just clearing the CMOS while I have a smoke.

The only thing I forgot to connect was the two 6pins for the GPU. But pc would still boot I guess? Gonna try it in a sec tho.

You got onboard graphics? If so, try it without the GPU. Try it with individual stick of RAM (test with both sticks). Would leave PSU/Mobo/CPU as the culprit. Got a spare PSU to test with? Then maybe also try reseating the CPU, would be a long shot but no harm in trying.

There is onboard graphics. That's the only thing I never plugged in from the case swap over. It's a cable from mobo to pci bracket. I didn't plug it in as I wanted to tidy the case. But doubt that would do it
