The army doesn't want people like this. They can't be trained or improved.

We've got far to soft. This tree was famous at least 200 years ago, what would happen if someone cut it down then? They'd be dead, not just a slap on the wrist.

Bring back the stocks for a few days just for this lad and televise it, where people can phone in and donate to charity in exchange for a piece of rotten veg being thrown at him

I think televised punishment is the way forward to stop all these scrotes from thinking they can ruin things people like

not really. military school could be just what they need to refocus their priorities in life...... and unlike those choosing to serve they would not get a full salary until any fines and what not were paid off.

Actually to make something of the felled timber a set of stocks at Bamburgh or nearby would be a useful project.

Convicted felons could spend the weekend locked up for the amusement of passers by. It can get quite cold and wet at night.

Are you not maybe underestimating some people's desire for 15 minutes of fame? Od wager we would see an increase in incidents like this, just so that people can get on telly.

They sell those grafted trees all the time in the garden centres. Had one in the garden once and the original tree which the stem belonged to started sprouting out the top of the grafted on tree. Heh.
