Britain? It's just a small island no-one pays any attention to, taunt Russians: Astonishing attack on PM as tensions mount at G20

Really Putin nobody pays attention to Britain. We may not be the empire we once were but we are still a very important country in the world.

it wasn't putin who supposedly said that and the guy who the media are claiming made the statement says its not true.

likely just another non story is anything russia should be glad Britain are staying out of syria and I doubt putin would take kindly to any russian spokes person taunting britain when we could easily have a revote and find parliment in favour instead thanks to some idiotic comment dragging us into it

This whole situation stinks. US have backed themselves into a corner and will have to strike Syria. Its quite sickening to think that as a result of national ego and face saving, thousands more people will die.

OK chemical weapon use is terrible, but even if you put aside who actually used the chemical weapons, how the hell is sending swarms of multimillion dollar missiles to destroy the foundation of a government going to help the country and its people in any way. Who is going to take over? The rebels who at every opportunity commit atrocious war-crimes and eat organs of dead soldiers? The same people that our own government was falling over themselves to arm and give weapons to. The exact same terrorists we've been told to fear over the last decade?

I think I've missed the boat somewhere along the way because none of it makes sense to me.

I think attacking the country is barbaric and completely lacks intelligence. If the US goes through with its attacks despite the opposition that the majority of the rest of the world are showing, then I will have really lost faith in the western world. Any repercussion against the US regarding their actions here is entirely of their own doing. Their complete disregard for the UN and the rest of the world regarding this is astounding.

There can be no rule in these countries without oppression. Only difference will be that instead of a more secular oppression as felt under saddam or ghadaffi or assad they will instead have religious oppression as seen in Egypt.

Quite possibly.
Its a bad thing to watch the TV reports still showing the children dying on the floor, breathing oxygen in a futile attempt for their nerves to restart working correctly as they die form the effects of chemical poisoning.
A horrible way to die, your body shutting down and stopping its natural functions, unable to move your chest to bring air into your lungs.
Watching children die this way is wrong.
Neither side deserves to rule in such circumstances.

We may never know who was responsible. It doesn't matter who was, the hope is such publicity will stop either side attempting such use of weapons again.
I doubt regime change will make the people any better off in five or ten years time.

if nothing else we had a good laugh at kerry who seems to think the al Qaeda people are talking about are hezbollah when people mean al nusra who are the rebels most powerful fighting force....

america must be seriously wondering if russia and china are bluffing or will actually do something once america start launching missiles.
TBH I can see russia and china launching a bunch of missiles into israel in defiance of all the times america has used the veto and everyone honoured it whilst this time america seems determined to make russia and chinas UN membership mean nothing

I seriously think we are closer to a proper world war than people want to admit, it could easily escalate at stupid speed once America starts firing.

It's like 2 bullies in the playground squaring upto each other to see who's boss

Well it also looks like the US secretary of state John Kerry got caught with his pants down too in his speech two days ago. He referenced and showed off a photograph of hundreds of childrens bodies all lined up in white shrouds, trying to drive home how awful the syrian chemical attack was in his attempt to provoke the american populace to war.

Problem is that the picture wasn't even from syria! - It's from iraq in 2003!!!! - The photographer Marco di Lauro, stated "I nearly fell of my chair when I saw it was being used to promote a war in syria".

skynews or somewhere used the same image by mistake as well...

they must realise what they are doing when they use an image from another war entirely.

how can they not realise? are they to stupid to use googles reverse image lookup ?

Apparently that's not actually true that Kerry used that photo. The BBC did though last year.

If any 'good' can come of this, it's the amount of people being woken up to how sickeningly manipulative the Mainstream Media is. Anyone who can't see how the BBC is not the UK Govt.'s Propaganda Channel is either blind or stupid.

The 'picking and choosing' of what 'News' stories to run to promote certain 'Agendas' is being constantly queried in the BBC's own 'Have Your Say' where the Public are allowed to voice their own opinions on certain stories and it is refreshing to see more and more airing their grievances at the partisan reporting.
